Welcome!

Our lab combines molecular microbiology with evolutionary genomics to investigate how changes in proteins and non-coding RNAs facilitate bacterial adaptation and virulence.

Current research areas are:

1) Utilize tick-associated Coxiella and Francisella to understand the evolution of human pathogens and tick symbionts.

2) Determine the functions of bacterial and human regulatory RNAs in Coxiella burnetii infection of macrophages.

3) Discover how new regulatory RNAs originate and gain functions in bacteria.

We welcome students and postdocs to join our lab. Please email Rahul if you are interested.
