Hi! I am Rafsan. I am a political science research professional and PhD student with strong academic interests in comparative politics. Among my key interests are public opinion, citizens’ political attitudes and behavior, political communication, informal dynamics of governance, lobby and interest groups, and political legitimacy. I bring a diverse perspective rooted in the Global South and hope to implement my academic and work experience to address the knowledge gap in these areas.
I am currently pursuing my PhD in Political Science at the School of Public Affairs (SPA) at American University. I worked for five years in the research field, most prominently in the Governance and Politics Research cluster at BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), a research institute of BRAC University, Bangladesh.
I finished my undergraduate degree in Development Studies from the University of Dhaka (DU) and my Masters from the School of Media and Communication at Bowling Green State University (BGSU) in the United States. I am also a U.S. State Department Alumni and a former exchange student with Journalism and New Media certification from the University of Washington (UW).
