Internship at INAF
Attached is the call for applications for internships at INAF (Italian National Institute for Astrophysics). The opportunity is open to Master’s students in Data Science and in Physics who are interested in applying statistical and machine learning methods to astronomical data. Possible internship topics include:
Classification and clustering of optical light curves;
Anomaly detection for astronomical images;
Statistical modelling of imaging data, including matrix-valued representations, temporal sequences of images, and spatio-temporal modelling approaches;
Model evaluation and selection for photometric redshift;
Uncertainty quantification for AI systems, with applications to astrophysical prediction and classification tasks.
The exact project will be defined together with the supervising astronomers at INAF, taking into account the student’s background and interests.
