Project goal: Deliver transformative advances in science and technology to off-grid communities in the Brazilian Amazon where energy is too expensive or unreliable
Roles: Conducting fieldwork in the region of Santarém; organizing and facilitating participatory co-design workshops with off-grid communities; collecting and analyzing qualitative data from workshops and quantitative data from surveys; literature review on off-grid energy in Brazil; writing of reports and manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals

Project goal: Assess status, trends, and drives of change affecting ecosystems services and human well-being at the Environmental Protected Area of Campinas, state of São Paulo
Roles: Establishing and maintaining a partnership with management council of the protected area; collecting and analyzing qualitative data through interviews and workshops; building of qualitative causal-loop diagrams; organizing and facilitating scenarios workshops; mentoring of undergraduate students

Project goal: Describe and discuss how different institutional arrangements for management of natural resources can contribute to integrating conservation and development at the local level
Roles: Systematic literature review on tourism within protected areas; fieldwork assistant to graduate researchers; assistant facilitator in participatory workshop; writing of reports and a peer-reviewed manuscript

Project goal: Quantify the dynamics of carbon in vegetation and soil in the Atlantic Forest region of the State of São Paulo and the potential of these primary forests to act as a provider or sink of carbon as a result of climate and environmental changes
Roles: Quantitative analysis of the role of palm trees in storing carbon; fieldwork assistant in permanent plots within protected areas; processing of samples collected in the field; writing of reports
Phytoremediation and biomonitoring of water contaminated with heavy metals (2010-2012)

Project goal: Identify plant species used for phytoremediation of heavy metals, select those with the greatest potential and analyze physiological and morphological indicators for the use of macrophytes in biomonitoring of water polluted with chromium
