RFBG is ran by a mother-daughter duo, Malinda & Gillian Raese. We started raising Boer goats many years prior to breeding show goats for youth livestock shows. We also started with briar goats, dairy goats and then registered Boers through the USBGA, IBGA and ABGA organizations. Realizing those type of goats are not competitive in the market goat or "club goat" industries, we chose to transition to wether-bred stock.
In 2015, we made the decision to invest in a registered, wether-style buck called AABG Face the Music ("FTM" for short). We chose to purchase a sire for Gillian's senior year stock rather than invest in a few show goats for her to show. He was the buck who put us on the map for producing competitive show goats in the state of Georgia. In 2016-17, Gillian won many titles and awards with her blonde showmanship doe "Jellybean," sired by FTM.
In 2018, RFBG bought out a wether goat producer in a neighboring county which gave us an extremely high quality foundation of does that have since elevated our herd's quality. This was the year that we made the move to leasing show does to youth to borrow and show through Georgia's goat show seasons. Leasing is now a focal point for our farm and many of our showmen repeatedly come back to RFBG for show animals for lease opportunities.
In 2022, we puchased a buck named Champ from Ellington Willis in South Carolina. He was an older buck sired by Pfeiffer Farm's Justified buck and was out of a doe called "Chloe," who was the 2013 Oklahoma Youth Expo's Grand Champion doe. He was our second largest buck investment and in our time with him we retained many daughters and believe he also stamped our farm for the better.
In 2023, we puchased a buck from S & K out of Texas, naming him El Blanco (EB), meaning "the white one," and his kids have been very consistent in the show-ring. 2023 was also the first year that RFBG started doing their own Transcervical Artificial Insemination (AI) in their herd, which we believe will further aid us in producing competitive show goats.
In 2024, we made the decision to purchase Bent from Riverdale Farms. He was bred by Evans Livestock and previously owned by Willis Family Farm. We believe Bent's muscle and build will pair extremely well with EB's daughters' length and extension.
