Akron Radon Mitigation System

Akron, Ohio, has one of the highest radon gas levels in Summit County. Get your home properly mitigated.

If you believe your home has high radon levels, you need an Akron radon mitigation team to install a radon mitigation system.

What exactly is a radon mitigation?

Radon mitigation is the process of lowering radon gas concentrations in occupied buildings' breathing zones.

What exactly is the Radon Eliminator mitigation procedure?

It is simple to solve your Radon gas problem, but it will take some effort.

During our initial testing visit, we will look at seven key points of Radon gas intrusion and develop a plan to handle the problem based on your needs.

The Right Way to Install a System

The first step in the Radon Removal process is to locate a high-quality suction point that allows for easy access, is aesthetically pleasing, and provides us with the best chance of success.

Once we've determined the best suction point, our team will begin drilling a 5" hole into your basement slab in order to install the Mitigation system. Following that, our contractor will determine the size of the "communication pit" based on a soil sample and substrate material analysis.

This is an important step because the proper dimensions of the communication pit create the proper pathway to draw air from beneath the slab, directing Radon out of the house. If the hole is too small, there will be insufficient suction to draw the Radon out.

The contractor will analyze a good discharge point to exhaust the radon gas outside the house after the pit has been dug. This step is critical to ensuring that the removed radon does not re-enter the house as a result of a poorly routed Mitigation System.

We can begin the pipe fitting process now that the proper discharge point has been identified and drilled. The pipe fitting procedure begins with the pipe base being sealed directly into the ground. This will be accomplished by filling the gap with a backer rod and finishing with an industrial-grade non-outgassing caulk.

Following the installation of the initial piping, the contractor will select the appropriate pipe pathway. The Radon Eliminator team will then connect the PVC pipes with a chemical welding agent to ensure that there are no leaks in the piping system and will install the ventilation fan along the pipe pathway.

Installing the exhaust fan correctly is critical to ensuring that it has enough suction to pull radioactive radon gas from beneath your basement floor out of your home.

How do you know the Mitigation installation was successful?

After the piping has been installed and all other intrusion point cracks have been sealed, the contractor will install a system monitor gauge to ensure that the ventilation system is functioning properly.

Finally, we will test the system's pull by drilling a small pilot hole in a different section of your floor. Using a smoke pencil, we will ensure that smoke is drawn down into the basement floor. This indicates that the suction is strong enough to remove Radon gas from your home.
