Overview

Radio2600 ("the app") is an internet radio player for Android. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and who we share it with.

Data You Provide

When you first set up the app, you provide:

- Username (required) — A minimum 6-character identifier. Usernames are checked for uniqueness and stored in the cloud to enforce that no two users share the same username.

- Email address (optional) — If provided, your email is used solely to enroll you in the Radio2600 mailing list for occasional news and updates. Basic validity checking is applied. You may omit this field entirely.

Listening Behavior

The app tracks which stations you listen to and at what times of the week. This data is stored locally on your device and is used solely to sort your station list so your most-played stations appear at the top during your typical listening times. This data is never transmitted off your device.

Song Appreciation Events (Thumbs-Up)

When you tap the thumbs-up button while a song is playing, the app records this event in the cloud. The following information is stored with each thumbs-up:

- Your username

- Station information (station ID, city, and music genres/tags as listed in the Radio Browser directory)

- The song's genre and subgenre as identified by the app

This data is used to build an understanding of user music preferences. No device identifiers or precise location data are included.

Song Recognition (ACRCloud)

When a station is playing, the app may capture a short audio sample and send it to ACRCloud (acrcloud.com) to identify the currently playing song. This requires an ACRCloud account and API key, which you provide yourself. ACRCloud's own privacy policy governs how they handle this data.

Song Genre and Vibe Data (Anthropic / Claude API)

When a song is identified, the app sends the song title and artist to Anthropic's Claude API (anthropic.com) to retrieve genre and mood information. No personally identifiable information is included in these requests. Anthropic's privacy policy governs how they handle this data.

Vibe Data Storage (Google Firebase)

Genre, mood, and song appreciation data is stored in Google Firebase Firestore. Google's privacy policy governs Firebase data handling.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

The app displays ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use your device's advertising identifier to serve relevant ads.You can reset or opt out of personalized ads in your device's Google settings. Google's privacy policy governs AdMob data collection.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. Data is shared only with the third-party services described above (ACRCloud, Anthropic, Google Firebase, Google AdMob), solely for the purposes stated.

Children

This app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.

Requesting Account Deletion

To request deletion of your Radio2600 username and associated cloud data, email [your email] with the subject line "Account Deletion Request" and include your username. We will delete your account within 30 days.
