This Research Update explores understandings, perceptions and feelings of respect and disrespect in two sweeps of NI Life and Times survey data. It examines respect in relation to a range of variables, including age, sex, highest educational qualification, socio-economic status and disability.

The recent publication, "Theorising Respect and Disrespect by and About Children and Young People: A Qualitative Systematic Literature Review", explores how respect and disrespect are defined and theorised when it comes to children and young people. Five key themes were crafted from the systematic literature review conducted, all of which warrant the recognition of young people as capable of contributing to discussions about respect.
