This policy describes how the Radaris Android app processes information. It is written to match the app’s current features. It is not legal advice.
1. Who we are
Radaris (“we”, “us”) is a weather companion app: live radar, forecasts, air quality, route-weather analysis, saved locations, and an optional AI weather assistant. We do not require you to create an account.
For privacy questions, contact us through bassappsinfo@gmail.com
2. Information we process
Depending on how you use Radaris, we may process the following categories.
- Location. If you grant location permission, we read your approximate or precise coordinates to centre the map, show local weather, reverse-geocode a place name, and set a route start point. Location is optional; you can deny or later revoke it in system settings. Without it, the app still works with a default map region and places you search or save.
- Places you choose. Search queries, recent searches, saved favourite places, and route start/end points (names and coordinates) are stored on your device.
- Weather and map requests. Coordinates or place context are sent to weather and map providers so we can return forecasts, radar tiles, air quality, and basemap imagery.
- AI messages. If you use the weather assistant, your prompt and related weather context (for example location name, coordinates, a short conditions summary, or an active route) are sent to the assistant provider to generate a reply. Chat sessions may be associated with a temporary session identifier.
- Preferences. Units, time format, alert toggle, map options, onboarding choices, and similar settings stay on your device.
- Diagnostics and analytics. We use Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance Monitoring, and Remote Config). This can include device and app metadata, feature usage events, crash logs, performance traces, language, and a Firebase installation identifier.
- Advertising ID. The app declares the Google advertising ID permission. We use it for analytics and subscription measurement, not to show third-party display ads in the current version.
- Purchases. Premium is billed by Google Play. We and our subscription partner (RevenueCat) receive entitlement and transaction metadata (for example product identifier, renewal status, and a purchase app user id). We do not receive your full payment card number.
- Premium codes. If you redeem a code, the code and the result of redemption are processed to unlock Premium.
We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, contacts, photos, or microphone. We do not sell your personal information.
3. Why we use this information
- Provide weather, radar, maps, routes, saved places, and the AI assistant.
- Remember your settings and onboarding choices.
- Unlock, restore, and troubleshoot Premium via Google Play and RevenueCat.
- Measure product usage, fix crashes, and remotely configure features.
- Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Use.
4. Legal bases (EEA/UK and Türkiye)
Where GDPR or KVKK applies, we rely on:
- Performance of a contract — providing the app features you request, including Premium.
- Consent — optional device permissions such as location, and any consent required for analytics identifiers under local law.
- Legitimate interests — keeping the app secure, reliable, and improved, in a way that does not override your rights.
- Legal obligation — when we must retain or disclose information to comply with law.
5. Third parties
Independent providers process data as needed to run Radaris:
- OpenWeather — current conditions, forecasts, air quality, radar tiles, and the AI weather assistant.
- Mapbox — map style tiles.
- Google — Android location services, Geocoder, Google Play, Play Billing, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance, and Remote Config.
- RevenueCat — subscription status and restore.
Those providers have their own privacy policies. Map tile requests inherently reveal an approximate map area. Weather API requests include the coordinates you are viewing.
6. Where information is stored
Favourites, recents, and settings are stored locally on your device (including Android DataStore / preferences). Cloud backups may include app data if Android backup is enabled on the device. Analytics, crashes, remote config, weather, maps, AI, and purchases are processed on our providers’ servers, which may be outside your country (including the United States and the European Union). Those transfers are handled under the providers’ contractual and legal safeguards.
7. How long we keep information
- On device: until you delete it in the app (for example removing a favourite), clear app data, or uninstall Radaris.
- AI session: kept only as long as needed to continue the current conversation, then discarded by us. The provider may retain logs under its own policy.
- Analytics / crashes: according to Google Firebase retention settings.
- Purchases: as long as needed to honour, restore, or audit the subscription, and as required by tax or accounting law.
8. Your choices and rights
- Turn location off in Android settings; the app will stop reading GPS until you grant it again.
- Clear cache or reset settings from inside Radaris where those controls exist.
- Limit advertising ID / ads personalisation in Android settings.
- Uninstall the app to delete local data we stored on the device.
- If you are in the EEA, UK, or Türkiye, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability for personal data we control, and you may lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in Türkiye, the KVKK Authority). Because we do not run user accounts, we may need enough information to identify the relevant device or purchase.
9. Children
Radaris is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided data to us, contact us via the Google Play listing and we will delete it where required.
10. Security
We use HTTPS for network calls, restrict the in-app legal browser to trusted pages, and keep payment data with Google Play. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
11. Changes
We may update this policy when the app or the law changes. The “Last updated” date will change. Material changes will be reflected in the app or on this page before they take effect where required.
