Rachel Sherman is a freelance writer and multimedia reporter with bylines in national, international and local publications.
She currently covers the spread of Covid-19 for The New York Times and is part of the data team that won the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service. Rachel is an alumna of the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY.
After six years in the social and private sectors, working in corporate humanitarian action and for NGOs, Rachel pivoted careers from international development to journalism.
In 2019, she produced “Rwanda Retold,” a commemorative art exhibition with the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts in Brooklyn. Rachel is originally from Texas and is always on a quest to find good tacos in NYC.
