Artist's Statement:
An artist of technical theatre creates art that must at once serve two ends: to be invisible and to enhance. Its very existence is a dichotomy of purpose, a paradox of intention.
In that paradox lies the essence of an artist.
An artist of any kind seeks to understand and interpret the world as they see it, using their chosen craft as one might use a pair of glasses – to view life in a way never seen before and hopefully make it clearer along the way.
In a never-ending contradiction, artists seek not only to interpret, but to improve the world through their art. They take their understanding and give voice to the things that go unsaid, give form to that which is never seen. They choose their medium and refine, constantly refine, until at last they have proved themselves faithful to those contrary sovereigns of understanding and change.
