This portfolio serves as a snap shot of the different activities and experiences I have completed in order to help me reach my teaching goals. The Teaching Certificate Program (TCP) and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) have provided me with a strong foundation to develop my teaching skills and learn how to continually adapt and grow. This portfolio will take you through my teaching philosophy, teaching goals, different teaching experiences, observations, and reflections.
I was born and raised in Conway, Arkansas where I completed my pharmacy per-requisites at the University of Central Arkansas (UCA). I went on to attend UAMS in Little Rock, Arkansas and obtained my Doctorate of Pharmacy in 2020. I then decided to stay in the central Arkansas area to complete my Post-Graduate Year 1 (PGY1) training at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS). After completion of my residency year, I plan to move to southern Florida and hope to obtain Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy and practice as a clinical pharmacy specialist in an inpatient, academic, or clinic setting. In the future, I would like to become a preceptor to both pharmacy students and residents to continue to serve as an educator.
Over the past year, the Teaching Certificate Program has provided me with ample opportunities to grow as an educator. I have gained confidence and the ability to adapt my teaching style to best fit the audience. Additionally, I was able to form relationships with current faculty, who served as examples of what dedicated teachers look like. They encouraged me to seek out those opportunities in order to push myself and become a more well rounded pharmacist. I know that the experience and knowledge gained during this year will help me to continue to progress towards each of my goals.
Thank you for visiting my teaching portfolio!
