I have had some success getting the wallpaper to work.... I click on SHOW ALL then click the first photo then scroll down to the last photo and click it - then go back to the first photo and select auto rotate. This seems to get it to cycle through ALL of the photos in the album.... even albums with 1500 photos.

I let wallpaper cycle for awhile and then discovered that it is rotating through all photos that have my wife! I love that, but am curious why and how it can happen. I left it going, but stopped it before trying to cycle through all 2,000.

same issue, called apple about it (they are aware of the issue) this was about a month ago though. very disappointing especially for my parents who love their backgrounds and I made them special wallpaper photos on each of their macs.

Clicking on "show all" for a specific album (all photos in my case), scrolling down to the last picture in that album, selecting the last picture, click the random checkbox, and finally setting how often you want it to cycle seems to work.

the reason for this issue is, the shuffle function can only show "downloaded" images. So if you click every image through the folder in the wallpaper tab the full size image are being downloaded and it can be used in the shuffle function. I think this cache is cleared after restarting your Mac and you have click on every image again.

sure. The images in the wallpaper menu are handled different than in Photos app. The best workaround for me so far is to export the complete folder which you want as a wallpaper and add it as a wallpaper source. that works for me.

If you're like, well, just about anyone who's had an iPhone for a few years, you probably have hundreds, if not thousands of images in your Photos library. Sure, you've always had the ability to set an image as a desktop wallpaper but it's a manual process. And if you'd like to switch the image, you have to go to your wallpaper settings and choose something all over again.

In my case, I've got over 80,000 pictures in Photos. Some of them are precious (or just goofy) family photos. Some are beautiful shots of landscapes I've seen or cities I've visited. An inordinately large number of them are of my cat, Loki. I'd love to be able to see more than one one at a time, without having to manually choose or dig through thousands of images to find the right one.

In the first iOS 16 public beta (edit: this is now out for everyone now!), Apple enabled the Photo Shuffle wallpaper, one of the new lock screen customizations being introduced. When enabled, Photo Shuffle sifts through your Photos library, picking the best images in the categories you select and showing them on your lock screen on a schedule you determine.

You'll need to be running iOS 16 on your device (not enrolled in the public beta? You can get started here). Then, long press on your iPhone's lock screen, scroll to the right, and click Add New (or just customize your current wallpaper).

As you scroll down, you'll see Suggested Photos. While you can pick one of these as a static wallpaper, you can also use this section as a quick preview to see the kind of pictures iOS 16 has selected from your Photos library as wallpaper-worthy. If you don't like the featured pics, don't worry, you'll have a couple of ways to optimize things in a bit.

Don't worry that you're going to end up never seeing a person or place again if you delete their photo. Photo Shuffle will look for additional images of the subjects you've selected and add those to the wallpaper stack.

For the uninitiated, the depth effect is a feature that lifts the subject of the wallpaper and places it above the clock. It gives the so-called 3D effect where the subject seems to be emerging from the screen. Unfortunately, not every wallpaper supports the depth effect.

The Depth Effect option is only available for wallpapers meeting the requirements mentioned above. At times, even when a wallpaper supports depth effect, you might need to manually adjust the wallpaper to enable the feature. If you take great pictures using depth of field on your iPhone, you might be able to use these as your wallpaper, too.

To enable the wallpaper slideshow function, open the Settings app, which you can find on the Start menu or by pressing Win + I. On this menu, select Personalization.

Keep in mind that all images in this folder will show up, so be sure there's nothing inside that would be embarrassing to broadcast on your desktop. If you ever want to move to the next wallpaper in the slideshow, right-click on your desktop and choose Next desktop background.

If you have multiple monitors, they'll all use different wallpapers and cycle between displays for new wallpapers. For example, with 10 minutes selected and two monitors, monitor A will change its wallpaper at 10 minutes past the hour, then monitor B will change its wallpaper at 20 minutes past, and so on.

Enable Shuffle if you want the images in your folder to randomly appear in the wallpaper slideshow instead of sequentially. If you're on a laptop, Windows will stop the slideshow when on battery power to conserve juice. Enable the Allow slideshow when on battery power toggle if you want the slideshow to continue anyway.
