Why Americans Say It That Way:

Welcome!  This short lesson is designed to introduce English language learners to the cultural and historical origins of twelve common American idioms still used in everyday conversation. 

Please watch the video lesson (6.5 minutes,) try the practice activity by matching the featured idioms to their meanings, and then complete the Google Form quiz to apply the idioms in conversation.
