How to get here?
Moses Brown School is located just over a mile from the Amtrak station in downtown Providence. If you're coming from the DC/Philly area, the Acela 2162 (express route) and the Northeast Regional trains (86 and 174) could be great options, and Amtrak offers some group discounts that could save you 60% on groups of 8. It's likely that several schools will be traveling on the same route, so this could be a fun way to caravan.
If you're driving a van, you can park it here on our campus for the weekend. The address is 250 Lloyd Avenue, Providence, RI, 02906. We are planning to make use of our RI Public Transit Authority buses for most of our outings on Friday, but if you'd be willing to let us use your wheels for Friday's outings, please email us to share that.
When to arrive?
School ends at 3 pm at MB, and we'll be happy to welcome you anytime after that - but an ideal arrival time would be sometime between 4 and 6 pm. We're anticipating about a 6:30 dinnertime, with our official kickoff shortly after that. (The fine-grained details may change - we'll keep you posted through the Schedule page, so keep checking back!)

On Thursday night, we'll be treated to a production of a one-actor show, "Sigh/Omelas," written and performed by MB theater director and teacher Steve Kidd. The show weaves together strands of Steve's experiences as a young adult working at a camp for children with HIV/AIDS, and elements of Ursula K. LeGuin's powerful (and disturbing) story "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas." It has been performed hundreds of times for middle and high school students, and it's impacted and inspired thousands of young people. The connections between art and advocacy are powerful in the show, as well as in the story of how the show came to be.
If you'd like to read LeGuin's challenging short story yourself, click here for a digital link.
Warning. This show packs an emotional wallop. Bring tissues and be prepared for some deep reflection afterward. Steve's show challenges us to consider what kind of society we want to be - it's a powerful example of creative change!
