Mahmoud H. Qutqut

Dr. Mahmoud H. Qutqut is currently an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Faculty of Computer Science at the University of New Brunswick (UNB) in Fredericton, NB, Canada since September 2023. Before joining UNB, he was Chair of the Cybersecurity and Cloud Computing Department in the Faculty of Information Technology at Applied Science University in Amman, Jordan, from July 2022 till August 2023, and as an Associate Professor since Dec 2019. He joined Applied Science University in Oct 2014 where he was appointed as Assistant Professor. Dr. Qutqut was a visiting assistant professor at Queen's University School of Computing and a research associate at the Telecommunications Research Lab from March 2017 to September 2019. He received his Ph.D. in 2014 from Queen's University in Canada, where he worked under the supervision of Professor Hossam S. Hassanien. He received his M.Sc. in Telecommunication Systems from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois, in 2008 and his B.Sc. in Computer Systems from Applied Science University in Jordan in 2004. He is a member of the IEEE and ACM and has served as Technical Program Committee co-chair, member, and reviewer of many international conferences and journals. He has several publications of the top-tier venues in the research area of networking like IEEE Access, IEEE ICC, and IEEE Globecom.

July 2022: Dr. Qutqut was appointed as the Head of the Cybersecurity and Cloud Computing Department at the Faculty of Information Technology, Applied Science University.
Dec 2019: Promoted to the rank of Associate Professor from Applied Science University, Faculty of Information Technology.
Jan 2019: Teaching COCA 201 Introduction to Computing and the Creative Arts and CISC P81 Computers: Applications and Implications at School of Computing Queen's University; Winter 2019.
Sept 2018: Teaching CISC 435 Computer Networks and CISC P81 Computers: Applications and Implications at the School of Computing Queen's University in Fall 2018.
Jan 2018: I have been nominated by my students for the W.J. Barnes Teaching Excellence Award for Arts and Science Undergraduate Society at Queen's University.
Sept 2017: Teaching CISC 435 Computer Networks at the School of Computing Queen's University in Fall 2017.
Mar 2017: Joining Queen's University at Kingston, Ontario, Canada as a Visiting Assistant Professor for an academic leave from ASU started in March 2017.
Jan 2017: Two undergrad graduation projects that I supervised won the first and third place prizes at the semi-annual graduation projects competition at Applied Science University.
October 2016: Dr. Qutqut has been appointed to be the Head of the Computer Networks Systems Department at the Faculty of Information Technology, October 2016.
October 2015: Dr. Qutqut has founded the Cisco Academy at Applied Science University and has been appointed as the director of the academy,
