Quinton Qiu (邱德憙), is a Vancouver-based Cantonese artist who investigates the fundamental cause of social phenomena in the greater context of the capitalistic, post-colonial era. Qiu mainly uses performances and installations. The works provide a lens for social reconsideration through the embodiment of hypothetical figures, recontextualize them into a gallery context, and create a conversation between the figures and the space. These techniques support discussions for critiquing forces of existing hegemonies in society, by exploring signifiers from everyday encounters.
