THE MAPA CANDIDACY
In Filipino, "Mapa" means map—a guide that provides direction, just as Scouting offers purpose to every step we take. But "Mapa" is more than just a noun. As a prefix in the Filipino language, it signifies action—to do, to strive for, to live out.
The MAPA candidacy is rooted in the values of Scouting. It is a commitment to bring direction to every action, and action to every direction—grounded in service, collaboration, and purpose.
It means to lead (MAPAngunahan), to dream boldly (MAPAngarap), to mobilize (MAPAkilos), to advocate (MAPAgtaguyod), and to love (MAPAgmahal).
M - Mobilizing our Youth Network
Our Asia-Pacific Region Youth Network, as I see it, is a vibrant community of changemakers, empowered by their diverse cultures and experiences to shape a better Scouting movement. Mobilizing this network means unifying and equipping young leaders across the region to become purposeful contributors and active drivers of progress. It involves engaging Scouts from all backgrounds, fostering innovation, encouraging meaningful collaboration, and creating tangible impact through collective action. Together, we can transform our shared vision into a movement powered by youth, rooted in values, and driven by purpose.
A - Amplifying Voices as a Youth Representative
Learning from my experience as a Scout Representative, I believe that we must highly value the voices of your youth—and that every Scout's voice should be heard, not just in forums, but in decisions that shape our movement. Amplifying voices as a youth representative means giving voices to the voiceless, breaking barriers for meaningful participation, and working for a Scouting movement that speaks for all of us.
P - Principle Centered Decision-Making
In every decision I make as a Scout, a leader, and a representative, I am guided by three principles that shape not just what I do, but why I do it.
Scout Ideals
The Scout Oath and Law are more than ceremonial words. They are a personal promise and a moral compass that guide me to act with integrity, purpose, and direction in every situation.
Systems Leadership
I believe that effective leadership means understanding and navigating the systems, relationships, and dynamics that shape our institutions. It is about seeing the bigger picture, making purposeful decisions, and leading change with clarity and intention.
Sustainability
True impact must last. I believe in making decisions that go beyond short-term solutions and instead create long-term value. Our initiatives should be replicable, scalable, and sustainable, laying strong foundations for the future of Scouting.
A - Advocate for Advocates
Scouting has transformed me and other young people alike into community builders and changemakers. I aspire to champion these spaces, tools, and opportunities that enable every Scout to become an advocate who takes meaningful action and serves with purpose.
