Quiltography and More
"From Scratch" Quilts
"From Scratch" is what I call a quilt which is designed with a particular person and/or theme in mind. I typically work alongside the commissionee to develop a pattern and color scheme.
Paperdrake
This quilt was made for a prompt winner during World Anvil's 2023 "Summer Camp" challenge. The winning article, "Paperdrake," inspired this origami-style quilt. The 12 blocks depict the process of folding a paper dragon and are rounded out by folded-fabric flowers and dragon-inspired fabrics.
Mad Hatter Tea Party
For this quilt, the comissionee requested an Alice in Wonderland/Mad Hatter theme. I developed a very colorful, topsy-turvy medallion-style pattern using hankerchief butterflies (see more below) and dogtooth borders. (Not pictured: it is backed in tea-themed fabric.)
Other Quilts
Patterned Quilts
These are based on an already existing pattern, with few changes, and typically utilize fewer/simpler techniques.
Very Simple Quilts
From "crazy quilts," with no pattern, to striped "jelly roll" quilts, to butterfly quilts made of old handkerchiefs, these are quick and easy patterns that still produce delightful results.
Experimenting with Quiltography
Though I have yet to make a full quilt map, I have also been known to do cartography and related projects via my sewing machine.
