QuickQR Scanner is an Android application that provides tools for scanning QR codes and barcodes, detecting codes contained in user-selected images, generating QR codes, and keeping a local record of recent scanning or creation activities.
This Privacy Policy explains how information may be accessed, processed, stored, and handled while you use QuickQR Scanner. The App is primarily designed to perform its core functions directly on your device without sending your QR-code or barcode data to our servers.
## 1. Information Processed by the App
QuickQR Scanner does not require users to register an account or submit personal information to us in order to use its primary features.
Certain information may be processed when you scan, generate, copy, save, or interact with QR codes and barcodes. Unless otherwise stated, this processing occurs locally on your Android device.
### Camera-Based Scanning
When you activate the scanner, QuickQR Scanner uses your device's camera to analyze the camera view and identify supported QR codes or barcodes.
Depending on the content encoded in a code, the App may recognize information such as:
* Website links
* Plain text
* Product identifiers or barcode numbers
* Contact information
* Telephone numbers
* Email addresses
* SMS details
* Wi-Fi network information
* Calendar event information
* Geographic coordinates or locations
* Other information contained within supported QR codes or barcodes
Camera images are processed for recognition purposes. QuickQR Scanner does not intentionally retain camera frames after they are no longer required for the scanning process.
### Scanning Codes From Images
QuickQR Scanner may allow you to choose an image through Android's system image picker.
Only the image that you specifically select is provided to the App for analysis. This functionality is designed so that the App does not need unrestricted access to your entire photo library.
The selected image is processed on the device to locate and decode supported QR codes or barcodes. The App does not intentionally upload the selected image to our servers.
### QR Code Generation
QuickQR Scanner can generate QR codes based on information entered or selected by you.
Depending on the QR-code type you choose, the information used to create a code may include:
* Text
* Website URLs
* Wi-Fi credentials or network details
* Contact details
* Email information
* SMS content
* Calendar event information
* Geographic coordinates
* Social media links or other supported links
This information is processed on your device for the purpose of generating the requested QR code.
## 2. Local History and Preferences
QuickQR Scanner may store certain information locally on your device to provide features such as scan history and saved preferences.
If scan history is enabled, the App may locally store information such as:
* Content detected from QR codes or barcodes
* Content used to generate QR codes
* Code format or type
* Date and time of scanning or creation
* Recent scanning or generation activity
The App may also save user preferences, which can include settings such as:
* Vibration feedback
* Sound feedback
* Automatic copying to the clipboard
* History-related options
* Language selections
* Interface and usability preferences
This information is stored within the App's local storage.
To reduce unnecessary storage use, the App may limit its history to approximately the most recent 100 entries.
You may remove individual records or clear your complete history using the options available within QuickQR Scanner.
## 3. Clipboard and Sharing Features
When you choose the copy function, QuickQR Scanner may place the selected or scanned information onto the Android system clipboard.
If the App provides an automatic-copy setting and you choose to enable it, recognized QR-code or barcode content may automatically be copied to the clipboard after a successful scan.
QuickQR Scanner does not intentionally read or inspect unrelated content that was previously stored on your clipboard.
If you use a sharing feature, QuickQR Scanner may invoke Android's system sharing interface so that you can select another application or service.
After information is shared with another application, website, or service, that information is subject to the privacy practices and policies of the receiving third party.
## 4. Permissions and Device Features
QuickQR Scanner may request access to Android permissions or device functions when they are necessary to provide a feature that you choose to use.
### Camera
Camera permission is required when you use real-time QR-code or barcode scanning.
The camera is used to identify supported codes visible through your device's camera.
### Photos and System Image Picker
The App may use Android's system-provided image picker when you choose to scan a QR code or barcode from an existing image.
This method allows you to select a specific image without requiring broad access to all photos stored on your device.
### Flashlight
When scanning in dark or low-light environments, QuickQR Scanner may allow you to turn on the device camera's flashlight.
Use of the flashlight is optional and controlled by you.
### Vibration and Sound
QuickQR Scanner may use vibration or audio capabilities to provide optional confirmation when a QR code or barcode has been successfully detected.
These feedback options may be controlled through the App's settings.
### Internet and Network Connectivity
An internet connection may be used when you choose to visit an online destination contained in a QR code, such as an HTTP or HTTPS website.
The App's core QR-code and barcode recognition functions are designed to operate without uploading scanned content to our servers.
Permissions can generally be reviewed or changed through your Android device settings. Disabling a permission may cause the feature associated with that permission to become unavailable.
## 5. On-Device Processing
QuickQR Scanner is designed to perform most of its essential operations directly on the user's device.
Functions generally handled locally include:
* Real-time QR-code scanning
* Barcode detection and recognition
* Code detection from selected images
* QR-code creation
* Scan-history management
* Storage of application preferences
For these functions, we do not intentionally send your scanned QR-code or barcode content, generated QR information, selected images, camera frames, scan-history records, or application settings to servers operated by us.
## 6. Advertising, Analytics, and User Accounts
The current version of QuickQR Scanner does not require users to create an account or sign in.
At this time, the App does not include:
* Advertising services
* Behavioral or user-tracking analytics
* Third-party crash-reporting systems
* Cloud-based user accounts
We do not sell personal information obtained through QuickQR Scanner.
If future versions of the App introduce advertisements, analytics tools, crash-reporting services, cloud synchronization, accounts, or other functionality that affects how user information is processed, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.
Where applicable, related disclosures in the Google Play Data safety section will also be updated.
## 7. Third-Party Websites and Services
QR codes and barcodes may contain information that directs you to websites, applications, stores, maps, messaging services, telephone services, or other third-party destinations.
QuickQR Scanner does not operate or control those external services.
When you choose to open a website, launch another application, make a call, send a message, open a map location, or otherwise interact with a third-party service, information may be handled according to that third party's own terms and privacy practices.
We recommend checking the destination of unfamiliar QR codes before opening them, especially when a destination requests passwords, login credentials, financial information, payment details, or other sensitive information.
## 8. Data Retention and Deletion
Data maintained directly by QuickQR Scanner is primarily stored locally on your device.
Depending on the available features and your device settings, you may remove locally stored App information by:
* Deleting individual history entries
* Clearing all scanning or creation history
* Changing or resetting App preferences
* Clearing QuickQR Scanner's application data through Android settings
* Uninstalling QuickQR Scanner from your device
Clearing the App's data or uninstalling the App will generally remove information stored inside QuickQR Scanner's private application storage.
However, information that you previously copied, exported, saved elsewhere, shared with another application, or submitted to an external service may remain outside QuickQR Scanner and is not under our control.
## 9. Data Security
QuickQR Scanner is designed to reduce unnecessary collection and transmission of user information.
By processing core QR-code scanning, barcode recognition, QR generation, and history functions directly on the device, the App reduces the need to transfer potentially sensitive code content over the internet.
Nevertheless, no software, mobile device, storage system, or security measure can provide an absolute guarantee against every possible security risk.
Users are responsible for maintaining appropriate security on their devices and should use caution when interacting with unknown or untrusted QR codes.
## 10. Children's Privacy
QuickQR Scanner is not specifically designed or directed toward children.
The App does not provide a user-account registration system that requires children to submit personal information directly to us.
As part of the App's normal scanning and QR-code generation features, we do not knowingly collect children's personal information through servers operated by us.
If the App's functionality or data practices change in the future, this section may be updated as appropriate.
## 11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to QuickQR Scanner's functionality, permissions, data-handling practices, third-party services, or applicable legal requirements.
Whenever this Privacy Policy is materially revised, the effective date displayed at the top of the document will be updated.
We encourage users to review the Privacy Policy periodically, particularly after installing a new version of QuickQR Scanner.
