Quick Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients

(makes 9 large cinnamon rolls)

Dough

  • 1 package instant yeast

  • 2 3/4 cup all-purpose flour

  • 3 Tablespoons sugar

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1/4 cup milk

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 1 large egg

Filling

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter softened

  • 2 Tablespoons ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Icing

  • 1 cup powdered sugar (can thicken up with 2 tablespoons more)

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2-3 Tablespoons milk

Directions


  1. Mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast together in a large bowl.

  2. In a small microwaveable bowl place your milk, water, and butter and microwave until butter is melted (make sure not to get it too hot or it could affect your yeast).

  3. Stir the butter mixture into the flour mixture.

  4. Add in your egg and knead with a mixer or by hand for about 4 minutes (until the dough isn't sticky anymore).

  5. Place dough in a lightly greased bowl and rest for 5 minutes (you and the dough haha).

  6. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees F, then turn off after 10 minutes. You will use this to help your dough rise a little faster.

  7. Roll out your rested dough to a 15x9 inch rectangle (or as close as you can get).

  8. Spread the softened butter on top evenly.

  9. Mix your cinnamon and brown sugar together, then sprinkle evenly over the butter.

  10. Roll up the dough tightly and cut into 9 even pieces.

  11. Place into a lightly greased pan square or 9 inch pan. lightly cover with aluminum foil and place into warm oven. Make sure oven is off. Let them rise for 20 minutes.

  12. Take off your foil and bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes.

  13. To make your icing mix vanilla, powdered sugar, and milk together until smooth. Add powdered sugar until desired thickness.

  14. Top your cinnamon rolls with icing while warm.
