Links. Turn the current tab or any pasted website address into a QR code. Pick up where you left off on your phone.

Wi-Fi. Help guests join your home or studio network without typing a password. The code contains your network credentials, so share it only with people you want to give access to.

Contacts. Share a name, email and phone number in a contact QR code.

Text. Turn a short note or message into an image you can copy or download.

1. Install Quick QR from the Chrome Web Store and pin it to your toolbar.

2. Open any webpage and click Quick QR. Your current tab is ready to scan.

3. Point your phone camera at the code, copy the image or download a PNG.

Made for everyday use

Save up to 20 codes on this device. Choose code and background colors, export images from 220 to 800 pixels, and switch between light and dark themes. Right-click a page, link or selected text to create a code, or open Quick QR with Alt + Shift + Q.

Quick QR started in April 2016 and marks its tenth anniversary in 2026. The latest update brings a simpler interface, clearer controls and local QR generation to this long-running browser tool.

Frequently asked questions

Do QR codes expire?
Quick QR creates static codes with no expiry date. For a link to keep working, the destination website must remain available.

Does it work offline?
QR generation runs locally after installation. Opening an internet link after scanning usually needs a connection.

Can it scan existing QR codes?
Quick QR is a generator. Use your phone camera to scan. The image right-click action creates a code for the image address.

Where are saved codes stored?
In Chrome’s local extension storage on this device. They do not sync across devices. Delete saved items or uninstall the extension to remove them.

Privacy

Quick QR does not collect, transmit, sell or share your QR content or browsing history. It uses no analytics, advertising trackers or remote code. Saved codes and preferences stay in local browser storage. Saved Wi-Fi codes include the network password. Right-click content is temporarily stored until the popup reads it.
