I don't have a lot of sun. Can I still have a pollinator garden?
Sure! Although you have more choices with more sun, there are plenty of beautiful shade and partial shade-loving pollinator plants.
I like my front lawn; do I have to get rid of it to have a pollinator garden?
Absolutely not! Some people choose to carve out a portion of their turf lawns for a pollinator garden.
Will it be blooming right away?
It depends. If you start with plugs, you will get some blooms the first year although the garden will be at its best after the first season.
How many months does it bloom for?
We plant strategically and aim to have something blooming throughout as many months as possible.
Is there a lot of upkeep with a pollinator garden?
Most native plants need very little maintenance. Some have long roots so do not need constant watering as some nonnatives do. Also, we can plant clonal and clumping plants that will outcompete many weeds.
