Postdoctoral Position on Thermoelectric Effects in Single-Molecule Devices.

A postdoctoral position is available at UAM (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid). This position is part of the collaborative project “QuIET- Quantum Interference Enhanced Thermoelectricity” funded by the EU Horizon 2020 FET-Open research and innovation actions programme.

QuIET is a highly interdisciplinary project, coordinated by UAM, that brings together internationally leading scientists from Spain, The Netherlands, United Kingdom and Switzerland with proven expertise on molecular synthesis, transport measurements and theoretical modelling. The goal of this project is to exploit quantum interference in molecules to enable new thermoelectric materials and devices with unprecedented efficiency.

The work will be supervised by Prof. Nicolás Agraït and involves the fabrication and electrical and thermal characterization of single-molecule junctions and self-asembled monolayers using state-of-the-art scanning probe techniques.

Excellent candidates with a PhD in Physics, Chemistry or Nanoscience and expertise in scanning probe microscopy are invited to send their applications (motivation letter, CV, references) to Prof. Nicolás Agraït (nicolas.agrait@uam.es). Successful applicants wil ideally be in post by February 2018.
