Donald Trump has been re-elected, and to no one’s real surprise, he is enacting exactly what he promised. While many tried to dismiss the warnings about Project 2025 as fear-mongering, the reality of his administration’s radical conservatism is now undeniable. The country, already facing growing economic instability, is now being pushed further into division and oppression, with marginalized communities bearing the brunt of his policies.
The Disguised Attack on Diversity
One of the clearest reflections of Trump’s discriminatory agenda is the recent widespread blocking of all Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) hires. Under the guise of eliminating “woke” culture, these policies are a blatant attack on LGBTQ+ individuals and people of color, cutting off opportunities for advancement, representation, and support in workplaces and educational institutions. This move is not about fairness—it is about erasing progress. DEI initiatives exist to counteract systemic barriers, and their removal only solidifies discrimination as an institutional norm.
Radical Conservatism Thrives in Crisis
Trump’s policies thrive on chaos, and the current economic downturn provides the perfect backdrop for fear-based governance. Instead of addressing income inequality, inflation, or healthcare, his administration scapegoats marginalized communities, framing them as threats rather than recognizing them as vital parts of the nation. The rise of radical conservatism under his leadership is emboldening extremists who see this era as their chance to solidify power and undo decades of civil rights advancements.
The Disappearance of Project 2025 Deniers
During Trump’s campaign, many dismissed Project 2025—a right-wing blueprint for extreme governmental overreach—as exaggerated paranoia. Now, as its policies quietly take root, those same deniers are nowhere to be found. The systematic dismantling of protections for LGBTQ+ individuals, the targeting of reproductive rights, and the suppression of racial justice movements are unfolding exactly as outlined. What was once a hypothetical worst-case scenario is now an everyday reality.
A Call to Resist
As a queer woman of color, I am disgusted by what this country is becoming. The reversal of rights and the growing normalization of discrimination are not just political issues—they are personal attacks on our existence. But we cannot afford to retreat into hopelessness. Now more than ever, we must organize, resist, and protect each other. We must support grassroots movements, amplify marginalized voices, and refuse to accept this dystopian shift as our new normal.
History has shown that progress is not linear, and every step backward has been met with resistance. This moment is no different. The fight for equality is far from over, and we must be relentless in our demand for justice, visibility, and liberation.
