"Anne Ilao has always put her family first. It's the Filipino American way. Her father and sister, Walter and Eliza, cared more about their friends. Her sister, Maria, cared too much about everything - but especially her in-laws. So, it has always been up to Anne to care about the family as a whole. It's what she promised her mom she would do, before she passed.

The one time she considered refusing this job, letting her family fend for themselves, was about 8 years ago. The year she met Erick Wentworth. He left (she broke both of their hearts), but now he's back.
