The Queer Alaska Fellowship Retreat (Queer AF) is a 3-day event created by and for the LGBTQ+ recovery community. 2026 was the first year of this incredible retreat, created to offer a space for connection, self-reflection, and support through panels, speaker meetings, and fellowship events. This conference focuses on sharing and celebrating the experience of Queer folks in recovery. You are invited to share how your identity has influenced how you approach recovery, and how recovery has affected your ability to connect with, exist within, and express your identity, and to interact with the world around you as a Queer individual.
In 2026, a group of queer, trans, and queer-adjacent sober alcoholics recognized the need for a recovery retreat specifically for LGBTQ+ people in recovery. In August of 2026, we hosted our first retreat on the shores of Kenai Lake, at Camp K (Dena'ina Land) alongside fellows from Al-Anon, S.L.A.A, and A.C.A.
While the retreat focuses on queer and trans voices in 12 step recovery, as well as building community and fellowship for LGBTQ+ people in recovery, fellows who are supportive allies are welcome to attend. No one seeking recovery will be turned away.
Our retreat is grounded in 12-step recovery principles and traditions, however we do embrace multiple modalities of recovery and multiple 12 step programs are represented. However you define "recovery," you are welcome to attend.
We are a group of folks who help make the retreat possible through service positions focused on programming, accessibility, outreach and more.
