Standards:
16x9 format
1080p 30FPS or no less than 720p 30FPS videos. We broadcast at 1080p internally and try to accommodate to homes at 1080p, but depending on time and content we may have to push to 720p but videos or pictures are better to be a higher resolution than a lower resolution in order to make it a clean broadcast
Using dark backgrounds with light letters/words are best - using an all white background are good but visually all white with dark words aren't as appealing or harder to read but is acceptable - Black or dark backgrounds are best, with White as a secondary, don't use strange mixture of colors - broadcasting is different than what you see on a computer - colors may not come out on a broadcast in the way you were hoping if you needed a special color to show.
Don't use pictures or videos that have a copyright, if we broadcast a video or music that the Stake doesn't have license to broadcast, and are checked or complained about, we could lose our ability to do live broadcasts
During broadcasting - outside the building, we turn off the Wireless access in the building, Please don't think you will be able to go out to the web to show a video. Proper setup and using a network cable will be required at the podium
Compiling slides or videos, make sure all of your pictures or videos you are using are in the Same Folder - for your project. Don't pull a picture from "This" folder and another from "That" folder, here and there. Copy each picture into a NEW folder you create Just for this Project, name it the project name-Pictures. For example: a folder I would prepare would be "2021-Spring-Stake-Conference-Pictures" and another "2021-Spring-Stake-Conference-Videos" and another called "2021-Spring-Stake-Conference-Presentation" - that way they are all sorted together, and you will know exactly which folder you are pulling the media from. The more organized you are with this, the easier it will be to convert, save, and move for us to broadcast
If you are asked to provide a "slideshow" or preparing videos that will be used during a Stake Broadcast, we suggest you contact us first, before starting, to get some detail but here is some info that may help you prepare so we won't have to redesign or convert your preparation in order to work with the broadcast or just the internal broadcast of the building only.
Using Google Slides, if you want to show a video, it is linked with YouTube, so sometimes it doesn't work as cleanly as you want. Just share the slideshow with qcnstech@gmail.com and we will be able to show it in the broadcast and in the building
We also have Office 365 (personally) and can show a slideshow with embedded videos or pictures.
Videos are best if you have them saved as a WMV formatted file and embedded in the presentation. Set the video settings to Auto start on advancing to slide and put a black, blank, slide between each video
You will need to save it as a fully self-contained presentation where all of your pictures and videos are saved with the full presentation rather than it thinking it will be ran from your computer so pictures or videos you use aren't being hunted for on a different computer in order to play correctly.
If you use a Mac, and if you use Key Note, please save or export your slides in the following formats
PPT (PowerPoint) or
Video format - as a Video - or M4v format - just remember a video is timed for a presentation so if you slow down or don't want to advance a slide on your own, a video isn't forgiving and just pauses.
For broadcasting, your laptop and what you want to show must be in a format that will appropriately sync with the internal system but also the Broadcasting equipment. We have a device at the podium to allow for down-scaling or up-scaling for the broadcast equipment.
We will just need you to come prepared and test the equipment connection more than an hour before the meeting starts to allow for any adjustments.
You should have an HDMI output on your laptop
You should have a 3.5mm (headphone) jack on your laptop if you want audio to play from your laptop
You should have the ability to move your audio away from HDMI output for audio and you should be aware on how to change that. Every time you start your computer or wake it up after going asleep, the audio will change back to HDMI and it will need to be changed back to Headphones each time
During broadcasting - outside the building, we turn off the Wireless access in the building, Please don't think you will be able to go out to the web to show a video. Proper setup and using a network cable will be required at the podium
Remember copyright needs
If you are creating a video to be used for broadcast or showing inside the building, here are some guidelines to consider please.
Our equipment is PC and Linux based and only have available Mac equipment if a tech has a personal device
Broadcasting is done from a room in the back of the building and not in the chapel - so it is best to communicate early - before you start compiling information and come prepared.
Please provide us files at least a day before the event
Any music added to a video you must own the license to the video or the Stake must purchase the license and it be documented before broadcasting or use license-free music (typically instrumental).
If they are church videos, typically these can be downloaded and added to a presentation or a video much easier

Best way to do a picture montage is to use a video editing software where you can put pictures together and add royalty-free music to it and output it as a MP4, WMV, or M4v video file
You can also do it as a "Slide show" but see the info above for slide shows. You can add timing etc to auto advance the slides with pictures on it.
Unless we are given enough time (weeks before the broadcast) it will be next to impossible to put together a video ready for broadcasting from pictures you have just in a folder that you want to show. Broadcast preparation takes a lot of person-hours to prep, test, and be ready for a broadcast and the closer to broadcast time we get the less chance your project will be ready in time.
