Scholarships are for seniors unless otherwise noted. Ms. Thomas will add scholarships as she learns about them, but this list is not extensive. You should continue to search for scholarships on your own.

Scholarship Timeline
Scholarships are available year-round. Below is an overview of what scholarships typically come out and when
August - December:
Mostly competitive, full-ride scholarships (ex. Gates, QuestBridge, Golden Door)
Institutional scholarships (from specific schools)
January - May:
Local CMS/Charlotte/Mecklenburg County scholarships
Your best bet for getting $$$. Do not overlook small scholarships because they add up and are more time efficient than working.
Don't give up just because you apply to many and don't receive any scholarships. You have to keep applying or you won't get any!
Searching for Scholarships
Be mindful of scams. You should not be paying anything to apply to scholarships. If you are unsure, ask! Here are some scholarship search engines:

Florence Kidder Memorial Scholarship (Due Feb. 6, 2022)

AWARD AMOUNT:
Six scholarships will be awarded in one year: First place - $3,000, second place - $1,000, third place - $800 and three fourth places - $400.
ELIGIBILITY:
Be a high school senior who is planning on beginning a postsecondary (college-level) program in North Carolina beginning in the fall of 2021.
APPLICATION REQUIRMENTS:
A completed application form answering all questions and supplying all requested documents.
A separate listing of extracurricular activities, honors, community work and work experience.
A current photograph.
An unofficial transcript of grades, including first semester senior courses if possible and current GPA.
A letter of recommendation from one of the student’s teachers (scanned and in pdf format).
Original essay of 500 to 700 words on this year’s topic.

Accepted to one of the 16 public colleges in NC.

Demonstrate leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement.
