QuarkXPress 2022 can open documents created in QuarkXPress 9 and later. If you want to open documents from QuarkXPress 6 or earlier, please use the QuarkXPress Document Converter to convert the files to version 9 first.

The QuarkXPress document converter only converts legacy QuarkXPress 3.x- 6.x documents to QuarkXPress 9.1 but does not upgrade its text flow version. When a user opens such a converted document in QuarkXPress 2022, then the text flow version will get upgraded and it will become equal to the document version. Hence, the text will reflow. The same behavior occurs if the user updates the text flow version of a legacy version document in QuarkXPress 9.x, (by opening the document by pressing Option/Alt key) and then saving it.

Mac users can convert documents from QuarkXPress 3.1 through 6.x and open them within QuarkXPress 2022 and later versions, without installing a separate application. Use of this feature requires review of and agreement to the Legacy Document Converter terms and conditions because files will be uploaded to a U.S.-based server for processing as per the Quark Sub-Processor Policy. Once files are converted and downloaded by the user, they will be deleted from the server immediately and permanently.

Once a document is converted, it may be opened by clicking on its name from the converted documents list and then viewed by using Show in Finder directly from the palette. The converted document name will be suffixed with '_9x'.

InDesigncan convert document and template files from QuarkXPress 3.3or 4.1x. InDesign can also convert document and template files frommulti-language QuarkXPress Passport 4.1x files, so thereis no longer any need to save these files as single-language filesfirst. (To convert documents created with QuarkXPress 5.0or later, reopen the documents in QuarkXPress and save them in 4.0format.)

InDesign does not support OLE or Quark XTensions. Consequently, when you open files that contain OLE or Quark XTensions graphics, those graphics will not appear in the InDesign document. If your QuarkXPress document does not convert, check the original and remove any objects that were created by an XTension; then save, and try to convert again.

InDesigncan convert document and template files from Adobe PageMaker6.0 and later. When you open a PageMaker file, InDesign convertsthe original file information to native InDesign information. InDesignfiles are saved with an .indd filename extension.

If the PageMaker file or its linked graphics are locatedon a network server, floppy disk, or removable drive, it may notopen as expected if an interruption in data transfer occurs. Toprevent data transfer problems, copy documents and their links tothe hard disk, preferably in the same folder where the PageMakerpublication is stored, before opening them in InDesign.

Through the simple QuarkXPress Document Converter user interface, QuarkXPress 10 users can select a single QuarkXPress document or an entire folder and convert the files to a format compatible with QuarkXPress 10. Prior to the availability of the QuarkXPress Document Converter, users needed to maintain a copy of QuarkXPress 9 in order to access old documents. The QuarkXPress Document Converter also offers the added benefit of batch conversions, which QuarkXPress 9 does not support.

QuarkXPress Document Converter is a standalone application which converts documents created in QuarkXPress 3, 4, 5, and 6 to open in QuarkXPress 10 or newer. The program allows you to convert single or multiple legacy QuarkXPress documents (QuarkXPress 3, 4, 5 and 6) and to convert legacy documents from a selected folder with option to include subfolders.

Q2ID converts QuarkXPress 4 through QuarkXPress 2019 documents into an editable InDesign document, without having the QuarkXPress application. That gives you the ability to convert over 20 years worth of QuarkXPress files to Adobe InDesign.

The product does the job adequately, but it takes FOREVER for them to update it to work with the latest version of Windows InDesign! I'm not able to "keep the old version of ID" at work, so I'm pretty much stuck not being able to convert documents for weeks or even MONTHS until they update it to work with the latest ID. Still nothing for ID 2021. So much time lost having to re-do old forms from scratch. By far my biggest frustration with this product. Not sure I'm getting my money out of it at $200 a year.

Jag r jtte njd. Har QuarkXpress 2016 och ppnar dessa dokument i Q2ID och det gr mycket bra. Det r typsnitten som man fr leta reda p i vissa fall.

I am really pleased. Have QuarkXpress 2016 and open these documents in Q2ID and it is going very well. It's the fonts that you have to find in some cases.

I purchased the Q2ID InDesign CC2020 (V15.X) with QXP 2019 (QXP V15.X).

Only used the product for one week but Q2ID could be a great time saver for myself as I may have hundreds of Quark documents to convert to InDesign.

So far my only problem is: when I convert Quark 2019 documents I get a bad format message and the conversion is only partially completed to InDesign. I have tried downsaving my Quark 2109 document to Quark 2018 and then convert using Q2ID.

I will let you know how I progress over the following months.

Great help for converting Quark documents. The program works as described, but the Q2ID program downloaded for InDesign CC 2018 also contains bugs that were found in earlier versions. For example, in converted files, each textbox gets an external and an internal hold value.

These must be repaired manually.

It works well anyway, I recommend it to everyone!

Transfer data from legacy documents supported by QuarkXPress programs such as QuarkXPress 3, 4, 5 and 6 files into new versions of the software by creating copies compatible with QuarkXPress 9.1. The utility automatically recognizes native formats and processes them.

QuarkXPress Document Converter is a standalone application which converts legacy documents (QuarkXPress 3, 4, 5 and 6) to the new format (QuarkXPress 9.1) enabling users to open these documents in QuarkXPress 10 without having to have QuarkXPress 9 installed.

One solution - not the most elegant but effective - is to download a demo /trial copy of Quark, open your old documents and save/export as other formats, ideally PDF, as you can then open them in Illustrator, Affinity Designer, Photo and Publisher, Photoshop... won't cost you anything, but the trial period is somewhat short... I think long enough to do what you need, and say goodbye to Quark...

The QXP document format is not a publicly documented format so in order to do this Serif would need to reverse-engineer the file format, which is not likely to be a trivial task, or they would need to somehow convince Quark to send them documentation on the format or an SDK of some kind to do this, which seems unlikely. e24fc04721
