Data Visualization for Communicating Research Findings
Instructor: Kerry Rodden, PhD; Co-author Quantitative User Experience Research (Springer)
February 2-5, 2026 at Fort Mason Center (9:30a-12:30p daily)
This hands-on workshop teaches researchers how to transform analysis results into clear, compelling visualizations that communicate effectively to stakeholders. Participants will learn to use R and ggplot2 to create polished explanatory charts for presentations and reports.
We'll cover essential chart types including bar charts, scatterplots, line charts, and choropleth maps, plus effective use of color and text, and storytelling techniques that help audiences understand and act on research findings. Through practical exercises with real datasets, participants will gain experience moving from exploratory analysis to presentation-ready visualizations that convey clear takeaways.
Prerequisites: Basic familiarity with R is required. Some experience with ggplot2 is helpful but not required; we will teach the fundamentals and build from there. This workshop is intended for UX researchers, survey specialists, market researchers, and other professionals who need to communicate quantitative research findings to diverse audiences.
Early Bird Registration is $950 until December 15, 2025 (will be $1150 after December 15).
