Teaching is as important as research if not more because a better teacher can foster better students. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and students’ feedback spurs my interest. One learns as much as one teaches, if not more. As the part of a growing Institute, I will continue to help form and develop the vision of the School, and its integral importance to the Institute, besides contributing to fostering a research oriented critical atmosphere in both undergraduate and graduate students. In this direction, I lead the establishment of the B.Tech. in Engineering Physics program at IIT Mandi.
My philosophy of teaching is to try to make students more interested, involved and zealous to learn instead of relying on external motivations such as grades. I am always interested in providing with a congenial environment where they are free to discuss and question. In my experience, a large number of students are under the false impression that physics education is about memorizing formulas and cramming expressions. Therefore, it becomes absolute necessary to connect the real-world problems during teaching with hands-on examples which definitely would help students shed this false notion as well in solidifying concepts and creating interest in the subject. As a physics teacher my pedagogy is more than just to teach traditional textbook material and I strive to provide students with important skills in mathematics, statistical analysis, experimental techniques, and computational and critical thinking. As a teacher, I believe my duty is to stimulate and encourage independent thinking, connecting the dots to solve difficult problems rather than to provide answers and formulations.

Some Comments by Students in the Course's Feedback:
Teacher provided good motivation towards the subject. Introduced many research problems. Very fine teaching skills, happy to take any course you will float related to Condensed matter physics. Crystal clear concepts. Your demonstration like double pendulum and young double slit experiment were very good. You always exerted some extra effort to make us understand you know how to teach. After the first sem I enjoyed some courses. Teaching with illustrations was the best part of this course. I learned some new concepts of physics like Lagrangian and oscillatory mechanics which changed the way I think about the universe. Great and helpful course taught with dedication, Thanks a lot. The course was good and increased my level of thinking. Professor always lets us think about something different in that particular topic and I appreciate that very much. I have rarely seen a person with such patience and motivation towards his work. Outstanding teacher for the laboratory. One of the best I have encountered with such a deep knowledge of the subject. Very passionate and professional person I have ever met, created a new type of curiosity among students. Sir is a very good explainer. He explains everything with exact examples. He not only teaches but also forces students to use their minds. He asks very logical questions which helps us a lot to connect our real world. I am very lucky that I have such an enthusiastic professor.
