Welcome to the webpage of the quantum many-body theory team at ICTP-SAIFR in São Paulo!
We are a group of researchers working on emergent phenomena in non-equilibrium physics, encompassing quantum thermalization and chaos, ergodicity breaking, driven-dissipative universality, emergent phenomena in quantum information, and outreach to quantum thermodynamics.
Our focus is both on foundational theory models and applications to state-of-art platforms in AMO and non-equilibrium solid state physics.
We are the result from a merger between the team of Dario Rosa at ICTP-SAIFR (Brazil) and the group of Jamir Marino at SUNY Buffalo (USA). The group was established in August 2025. Our scholars and team members are itinerant between the two locations and get exposed to a variety of scientific approaches and academic environments.
Every year we organize a set of vibrant scientific activities ranging from schools to workshops, including mini-courses, at our venues in São Paulo.
If you're a student or postdoc interested in a research experience bridging the two Americas, feel free to get in touch—let’s get the ball rolling!
