- 워크샵 (Alphathon Workshop): 2018년 12월 13일부터 2019년 1월3일까지 매주 목요일 6:00pm,

- 내용: 알파 만드는 법 심화, 데이터 종류별 소개, 대회 팁 등.

WorldQuant Virtual Research Center가 KAIST 본원(대전)에서 KAIST Alphathon을 개최합니다. WorldQuant Challenge의 일환으로, 한국시간 2018년 12월 14일 오전10시에 시작합니다. 이 대회는 KAIST 학생들에게 계량 금융 (quantitative finance)과 데이터 사이언스 (data science)에 대해 배울 수 있는 좋은 기회가 될 것입니다.
WorldQuant Challenge는 Websim (WorldQuant의 웹기반 시뮬레이션 플랫폼)을 사용하여 아이디어를 테스트하고, 금융시장의 알고리즘 (알파, alpha)을 개발할 수 있습니다. 알파를 만들어 점수를 얻으면 Bronze, Silver, Gold 등급이 될 수 있습니다. Gold 등급을 달성하면 WorldQuant의 research consultant로의 기회를 얻을 수 있습니다.
KAIST Alphathon에 참가하면 WorldQuant Challenge가 보다 재밌어집니다. 참가자 중 점수 상위 3명에게 상금을 다음과 같이 지급합니다.
- 1위: 상금 USD $500
- 2위: 상금 USD $300
- 3위: 상금 USD $200
2018년 12월 14일부터 2019년 1월 11일 사이에 시뮬레이션되고 제출된 알파만 KAIST Alphathon 점수에 반영됩니다.

KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) Daejeon Campus and WorldQuant Virtual Research Center will be launching the KAIST Alphathon, which is part of the WorldQuant Challenge, beginning on 14th December, 2018 at 10am KST. This would give students in KAIST an exciting opportunity to learn about quantitative finance and data science.
The WorldQuant Challenge provides interested candidates with an opportunity to test their ideas and develop high-quality financial market signals (alphas) using WebSim, WorldQuant’s web-based simulation platform. Qualified candidates earn points by creating alphas — and these points can lead to Bronze, Silver and Gold status. Individuals who achieve Silver and Gold status may be considered for research consulting opportunities with WorldQuant.
The KAIST Alphathon makes the WorldQuant Challenge even more exciting by offering the top 3 Gold finishers the opportunity for each to receive a one-time special stipend once each qualifies to be a Research Consultant.
- Top Scorer: The top ranked participant in the KAIST Alphathon will be considered for a one-time special stipend of up to USD $500 in our discretion.
- #2 Scorer: The individual whose final score ranked second within the KAIST Alphathon will be considered for a one-time special stipend of up to USD $300 in our discretion.
- #3 Scorer: The individual whose final score ranked third within the KAIST Alphathon will be considered for a one-time special stipend of up to USD $200 in our discretion.
Note that only Alphas created, simulated and submitted on or after December 14, 2018 and before January 11, 2019, will be considered for KAIST Alphathon scoring.

- If you are already registered in the WorldQuant Challenge, you will be automatically eligible to participate in the KAIST Alphathon. We encourage you to continue learning through all of the materials in the Help Section, and get ready to test your ideas!

We are holding an Information Session for KAIST Alphathon on Nov. 29 (Thursday) 6:00pm at KAIST N1-417. Please come and visit if you want more information in Korean.
Alphathon Workshop is also scheduled at 6:00pm every Thursday at N1-111 on December 13, and N1-417 from December 20 to January 3, 2019.
