Canadian whisky, often referred to as Canadian rye, is a type of whisky produced in Canada. It's known for its lighter, smoother profile, often achieved through blending various grain-based whiskies. While it can be made from any cereal grain, corn is a common base, and rye is often included for flavor. It must be mashed, distilled, and aged in Canada for at least three years in wooden barrels, and bottled at a minimum of 40% ABV.Â
