The Pepco Trail is currently a 6 mile long trail from South Germantown Recreational Park to Muddy Branch Stream Valley Park in North Potomac. The trail is a cooperation between Montgomery Parks and the Exelon Corporation. It uses the Pepco right of way, or the area beneath the power lines. The groundbreaking ceremony was held in 2018 according to Montgomery Parks.

Montgomery Parks has just received the funding to expand the Pepco trail from 6 to 13 miles. The new trail will connect South Germantown to Cabin John Regional Park. Cabin John is just off of Tuckerman Lane. The new trail will be paved, to go along with the old 6 miles of natural surface trail, according to Montgomery Parks. Construction is scheduled to start in 2022, and this trail will be the largest expansion of Montgomery County's trail network in recent years.
