The pictures that we have tell us that they have started with the D-Wing, and they have broken through to the courtyard. They leave many questions unanswered however. You can see Ceiling tiles still in the building, lockers are still in the building, and bulletin boards are still up. In the months that they are behind schedule, it seemed as if they might have been working on removing these materials. View more information about the Woodward project here.
All playing fields on the property are now closed to the public. A sign has been posted that warns, "No Trespassing." The sign says that construction will conclude in 2023. Another sign has been posted next to it on the backstop for a campaign against building an athletic statement. It is noteworthy that the poster lists Shebra Evans as Board of Education President, despite the fact that she was last year's president and the current one is Brenda Wolff.
Save the Edson Forest is a group whose goal according to their website(savetheedsonforest.com) is, "To prevent MCPS from acquiring an adjoining property owned by Montgomery County....to be used as an athletic field and DESTROY the forest in the process." This comes after some of the proposed Woodward High plans cause for the removal of the Edson Forest.
