We strive to provide a brave space in which presenters and attendees can engage with and learn from one another. In order to do so, we have established the following guidelines. Participants are invited to adhere to these as much as possible throughout the event, including interactions on associated social media platforms.
Promote and foster an environment that is affirming and supportive, especially for those who have been historically minoritized and underrepresented in our field.
Work to promote a safer and braver space for themselves and others.
Respect and maintain appropriate boundaries through fostering a culture of consent: no means no, yes means yes, notice the no in "I don't know."
Practice thinking well of each other and assume all presenters and participants have best intentions at heart while we remain accountable for our impact.
Respect consent in all activities, including our own self-consent. It's ok to take breaks and take care of ourselves as needed throughout the event.
Own our own reactions, feelings and needs rather than make others responsible for them.
Appreciate and respect the intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and physical labor provided by organizers and presenters to make this conference possible.
Use direct communication and refrain from making hostile, hurtful, or cynical comments during discussion.
In addition, QTAN will not tolerate any nonconsensual sexual advances or comments, sexual misconduct, bullying, and/or purposive gaslighting and abusive commentary. Participants will be warned and might even be immediately removed from participating in the conference.
We hope that all attendees and presenters will dialogue and connect with one another
in ways that honor the lived narratives of our trans and queer communities.
