Privacy Policy
QSmoking helps you reduce smoking with a personal plan based on information you enter (for example, daily consumption, cost, and timing). This policy explains what information the App may process, how, and your choices.
The App is designed to work with data you enter, stored on your iPhone using the operating system and Apple’s on-device storage (for example, local database / Core Data and app preferences). Depending on how you use the App, this may include, for example:
Smoking-related inputs (e.g. daily amount, times of day you usually smoke, habits you mark as more difficult to change).
Financial inputs you choose to add (e.g. price) for savings estimates.
Dates and plan information produced by the App for your stop-smoking program.
App settings (for example, notification or display preferences) stored in User defaults (UserDefaults) or similar local storage.
We do not use this on-device data to run a public profile of you in the App (there is no sign-in in the flow described in this policy). Unless stated otherwise in section 3, this information stays on your device and is not transmitted to us as part of a “user account” in the App.
If you delete the App or erase the device without a backup, local data may be lost. Use iOS backup/restore according to your needs.
To understand how the App is used and to improve it, the App may connect to Google Firebase when a valid GoogleService-Info.plist is present and Firebase is initialised. In practice this may include:
Analytics / measurement (for example, screen or feature usage events and related technical parameters allowed by the Firebase products you integrate).
Diagnostics, which may include crash reports (for example, if Firebase Crashlytics or similar is enabled in your build), typically containing device/app technical information and stack traces, not your smoking plan content, unless a crash string accidentally includes it.
These services are operated by Google and may process pseudonymous identifiers and technical data (e.g. app version, OS, device model, coarse region/locale) as described in Google’s policies and your Firebase project settings. See:
Your choices (iOS): you can limit tracking where Apple offers it (e.g. App Tracking Transparency and privacy settings) as applicable. Analytics may be limited or inoperative if Firebase is not configured on a given install.
If you allow notifications, the App may use local notifications on your device to remind you according to the plan and your settings. These reminders are not push notifications from our servers in the standard setup described here; scheduling is handled by the system on your device. You can turn off notifications in iOS Settings → Notifications for QSmoking.
The App may open web links (for example, information or donation links you tap). Those sites have their own privacy practices. We do not control third-party sites.
QSmoking is a self-help tool. It is not a medical device and not a substitute for professional health advice. For medical questions, consult a doctor or a qualified health professional.
The App is not directed at children under the age required in your country to consent to data processing (e.g. 16 in some EU countries, 13 in the U.S. COPPA context). We do not knowingly process children’s data for a child audience. If you believe we have, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
If you use the App, Google (and other providers you enable) may process data in countries where they operate, including the United States and the European Economic Area, under their terms and, where required, appropriate safeguards (e.g. Standard Contractual Clauses) as offered by the provider and described in their documentation.
On-device data is retained on your device until you delete it in the App (where supported) or remove the App / erase the device.
Analytics/diagnostic data in Firebase is retained and configurable according to your Firebase console and Google’s settings.
If applicable, you may have rights to access, rectify, delete, object, restrict, or port data, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. For requests relating to our Firebase tools, we may need to work within Google’s process for app publishers.
For “personal data” stored only on your device, your primary controls are the App and iOS (delete data, delete app, backup settings).
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to a consumer app. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.
We may update this policy. We will post the new “Last updated” date and, where required, provide notice in the App or the App Store.
