My remote viewing app worked really well for me, until they jumped ship. It still works at home for about 20 seconds and disconnects so I know the system is fine on my end. What has anyone in the same situation done?

The problem seems to be that I am unable to accomplish port forward. I followed the Q-See manual verbatim, no luck although I do get an OK on the QT528 when I do the 2 network tests (IP and update DDNS) so the DVR is communicating to the internet. I'm also able to "locally" log into the DVR on my laptop and view the cameras over the WAN/LAN using the IP assigned by the router so the DVR is broadcasting over the router. I'm just not able to remote view over the internet in any capacity.

You said you are able to logon "locally". On whatever device you are using to view the cameras, are you using your WAN IP or your LAN IP? If you're using your LAN IP from inside the LAN, then that bypasses the router all together. If your inside the LAN and use your WAN IP to access the DVR successfully, then that means port forwarding is setup properly.

I can log into see the cameras from my laptop via WiFi and Ethernet by typing the static IP 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.2/WebClient.html appears and i can log into see the cameras. I am not able to remote view using DDNS.

Wow, I was unaware that I may not be able to log into The Q-See DDNS website to remote view because I'm attempting it from the same public ip address that my DVR system is connected to. That's interesting, perhaps that's the problem. So to test that theory I'll try logging on from another location. Thanks for that tip.

I also have this problem (cant view from local network). From outside my own network, using port 80 i get as far as the blue log in page but when i enter the password and press log in it seems to start the connection process but then get "connection failed" error message, the dvr is connected to the Comcast cable/modem by ethernet cable, so connection IS solid.

I read this valuable thread. I have been fighting with the same problem for about a month. I have DAHUA DVR, using static IP I was able to view the cameras locally without any issue. I visited UAE and tried it there but it didn't work, now in Canada I am still helpless. Not as much known about the technology, I am stuck with the issue and the port changing etc. had been tried by the technical people at the other end.

If that doesnt fix the problem or if you have any further questions please visit our website and submit a question ( ). We would be happy to further assist you in getting your system setup for remote viewing.

Hello, my name is James with Q-See Support. If you opened the ports manually in your Airport you may still get a UPnP error on the startup wizard. This is because the device is trying to open the ports automatically and they are already reserved. Are you able to use the IP from and view the cameras when away from the network? If you cannot please submit a question on our support site and let me know what your reference number is so I can further assist you ( ).

Right after I wrote this, I figured out what was wrong. I thought I would put in on here for others to view. The issue I was having was I had configured my Airport Extreme to block my son's computer and game system from the internet from 11pm to 6 am via the "Enable Access Control: Timed Access Control" under the Network tab of the Airport Utility. Apparently that what was causing my issues...I went in to the Timed Access Control and added the MAC address of my DVR and set it for everyday, all day. As soon as it had the info, I was able to access the ports I needed and my cameras were returned to normal. Not sure anyone else will have the same issue, but I wanted to share just in case. Thanks!

Large corporations that prioritize sales volume over quality of their products and support are on shaky grounds. Unsurprisingly the closure of one of the largest competitors of ours was a long time coming. Q-See is the latest business in the CCTV industry to go out of business because of their ill-fated business practices. QSee Corporation was a fairly large corporation based in California that specialized in low-cost surveillance products for the home consumer and small business market. For the last 18 years they were in business, you could find their products in Costco, Amazon, and Newegg at low-low prices. Unfortunately such low prices only mean one thing, i.e. lack of competent support. According to the BBB profile about QSee their support was non-existent. If you visit Q-See.com you will find a message stating they are closing their doors for good on January 31, 2021, and leaving their customers hanging to find ways to ensure their security camera systems are still remotely viewable after the cloud services are terminated at the end of January.

The main equipment any previous Q-See customer should replace is the DVR or NVR. Q-See, while going out of business, has discontinued all of their apps and PC software. This affects all customers who relied on remote viewing to keep an eye on their property or business. We offer remote viewing apps and PC software free of charge with the purchase of our security camera recorders.

View live feeds from up to 16 cameras simultaneously, or review video recorded on your DVR. QC View HD takes full advantage of touch-screen technology to allow you to add or change video feeds, play back video or even control a pan-tilt-zoom camera with finger gestures. You can even take still images and save them on your phone or send them as e-mail attachments.

While the QT534 is far from a high-end surveillance system, it still gives you a lot of advanced features for the price. As you'd expect, the 500GB DVR is should provide at least 14+ days of footage (in a few cases people reported 90+ days worth of footage). This system does not have Wi-Fi functionality of any kind so the cameras require a hard-line connection and the DVR box relies on an Ethernet port should you want to connect it to the Internet for remote broadcasting. I will warn you, the configuration involved for viewing your camera feed over the Internet will not be an easy task for the average consumer and it requires an advanced setup process for someone with plenty of networking knowledge.

Since I am a Mac user and only own Apple computers, I ran into an issue when trying to view footage exported from the Q-See. This is because the DVR will only export in a .DVR (a proprietary format that requires Windows only software to view) or .AVI format (a format made by Microsoft so it only works natively on Windows computers). Luckily, I have Parallels installed on my iMac with a Windows 7 installation running so I was able to work around this issue, but in most cases Mac users will need to utilize a 3rd party software like VLC to view any exported .AVI files.

I was a stock broker for 40 years and I always prepared portfolio reviews that had two columns that are missing in QMac, they were the stated dividend for the stock and the current yield. The yield is based on the current stock price and the annualized dividend. That information its available if I click on the stock. It takes me to a research window and the last line of data is the dividend and yield. I think QMac should not require the sidestep to get the info.

Interview of First Lady Laura Bush with ABC's Claire Shipman on Good Morning America

The Blue Room Q We're with Mrs. Bush, who is going to talk to us a little bitabout the Blue Room, which houses the official White House ChristmasTree. It's so tall this year, you had to take down the chandelier. MRS. BUSH: That's right. It's actually secured up there where thechandelier would hang. And this fabulous tree is from Wisconsin. Oneof our great American Christmas tree growers grew it. And it'sdecorated with Barbara and Jenna's grandparents' ornaments. Q This is so wonderful. So they've been in the White Housebefore. MRS. BUSH: That's right. They were here in 1989 when Barbara andGeorge Bush were here, George H.W. Bush. And so we borrowed them fromthe Bush Library at Texas A&M. And they're all storybook characterslike Cinderella and Captain Hook, and every storybook character you canthink of is up here on the tree. Q That fits in with the theme you've chosen for this year'sChristmas. MRS. BUSH: The whole theme, that's right. Q A Season of Stories. MRS. BUSH: A Season of Stories. Q Which is lovely. How did you come up with that idea? MRS. BUSH: Well, of course, I knew about these and I loved thesewhen I saw them in 1989. But as a former librarian and lifelongreader, I really wanted to have one Christmas with all the stories thatI think are so important for Americans to share with their children. So on all the mantels you can see Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys, some of my favorites from when I was younger. Harry Potter, one of mynew favorites. Q I saw the Harry Potter. That's wonderful. MRS. BUSH: Frog and Toad Together, which are great books for earlyreaders. Q Alice in Wonderland. MRS. BUSH: Alice in Wonderland is on the dining room table.Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, or the chocolate factory itself madeby the pastry chef, is on the dessert table. Q Absolutely delicious. And, of course, it wouldn't be a WhiteHouse Christmas without a fantastic gingerbread house. MRS. BUSH: Gingerbread house. I know it. Our pastry chef,Roland, builds the most fabulous gingerbread house. And this year,it's surrounded by every storybook character. And actually if you lookin one of the windows of the White House, you'll see that bedroom fromGoodnight Moon, which was our favorite book to read to our littlebabies. Q The green room. I know, I've memorized it by now with mytwo-year-old. MRS. BUSH: Exactly. Q Before we get completely focused on Christmas, I want to talkto you about the holiday that just passed, because a lot of us arestill reeling from what your husband pulled off in going to Baghdad. Can you just give us a sense of what he said to you when you firstheard about it and what you said to him? MRS. BUSH: Well, he just told me. We would talk about it and hewould say he really wanted to do that for thanksgiving. But we knew itwould have to be a secret, and we didn't know if it would really -- ifhe'd really be able to go. And finally, on that Wednesday afternoonbefore Thanksgiving, we knew that it was definitely on. So I gave hima hug goodbye. He and Condoleezza Rice were getting in the unmarkedvan to drive to the airport. Q Looking like just an ordinary couple. (Laughter.) MRS. BUSH: Exactly, as he said. And then, of course, I wasanxious. He had told our girls, and they were anxious and worried. But fortunately, the next morning his parents got there. And we reallyhad a wonderful Thanksgiving, all of us being together, Barbara andJenna and the Bushes. And then being able to watch him on TV and watchour troops on TV. Q So we had just recovered from that when you let it slip thatyou've got a bit of the adventure bug yourself and you'd like to go toAfghanistan. MRS. BUSH: I really would. I've wanted to go for a long time, because I'm so interested in education, especially the education oflittle girls in Afghanistan, and in women's issues there. So I hopeI'll be able to go sometime this spring. But I don't have a tripplanned yet or a date picked, but I'll let you know when I do. Q I understand your staff was a little surprised to hear aboutthat. MRS. BUSH: I think some of my staff might have known. Q Would it be safe for you? MRS. BUSH: Yes, I think so. Yes. Q Would you be worried about that? MRS. BUSH: I think it would be safe. Q This is the third Christmas in the White House for you thathas had -- had really difficult overtones. MRS. BUSH: That's right. Q We're really -- yet another wartime Christmas, really. What advice do you have for people, especially the men and womenwho are serving our country and are so nervous about their loved ones? How do they get through the holiday time? MRS. BUSH: Sure, the family members of the people who aredeployed, I know, are very, very anxious. And they'll have a Christmasor a holiday dinner table with an empty place for their loved one whois overseas. I want all Americans to give them all the support they possiblycan, and I know Americans will. But I also really want them to know, and our troops to know in Afghanistan and Iraq how Americans are withthem, and how proud we are of them, and how grateful we are that theywill serve our country like they do. We've had three sort of sad Christmases, I guess you might say, after September 11th, the idea of the challenges that our country facesand the difficulties that terrorism bring to the world. But I alsothink there's a lot of optimism with the holiday season, families beingtogether. We know how we should cherish our families and how we can'ttake for granted the wonderful freedoms we have and really thewonderful blessings of our country. Q All right, Mrs. Bush. Well, thank you so much for that. MRS. BUSH: Thanks. Q And one final note, we were hoping to see Barney. MRS. BUSH: We were hoping that Barney would come in. Here he is.We'll see if he'll come -- Barney, come on. Q See little Barney, because there's such a thing as Barney camat Christmastime. MRS. BUSH: That's right, Barney cam is going to be released nextweek -- Q A camera on top of Barney and you get to see the decorationsthat way. MRS. BUSH: Hey Barney. And here's Spotty. Spotty showed up,too. Q So you're going to have Barney cam again? MRS. BUSH: That's right. Barney cam will be released, I think, next week. Barney has been carrying his camera around now to try toget a real -- a real -- Q Dog's eye view. (Laughter.) MRS. BUSH: A real dog's eye view of the White House decorations. So be looking for that on your -- on the website. Q We will look online. MRS. BUSH: Thanks. Q Well, thank you so much, Mrs. Bush, for taking the time thismorning. Appreciate it. MRS. BUSH: Thanks a lot, Claire. Good to see you. END Printer-Friendly Version Email this page to a friend
