This piece is called The Sum of Who I Am, it is a charcoal drawing of objects that make up my personality, The mediums used for the piece black & white charcoal, graphite, and ink wash. The piece was made to introduce myself; I wanted the viewers to see what lies beneath the surface. The three objects used were a unicorn plush named confetti cake, black headphones, and a tall coffee mug. The unicorn symbolizes my love for plushies and stuffed toys. The headphones symbolize my love for music and how I always have headphones on my head. Lastly, the Coffee Then Conquer coffee mug symbolizes my love for coffee. The idea of what was imagined at the start stayed the same till the end of the piece. Currently, I like to photograph, draw, paint, and color items in spaces of comfort and familiarity. My work takes on a joyous quality that is expressed through my stylistic art making. I want the viewer to understand what the objects mean to me. I feel that the items will be a platform for others to relate to myself on a certain level. Many people can relate to having an item of comfort (i.e., a plush, blanket, etc.) A lot of people share the same love that I have for coffee. And music is a universal comfort space or safe space for everyone.
