This Privacy Policy explains how QR Scan: Read Any Code ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the Android application.
QR Scan: Read Any Code provides QR code and barcode scanning, recognition from selected images, QR code generation, scan history, and related utility features. By using the App, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information Used by the App
QR Scan: Read Any Code does not require account registration or login to use its primary functions.
When you scan, create, save, copy, or interact with QR codes and barcodes, certain information may be processed directly on your device.
Depending on the type of QR code or barcode, this information may include:
Website URLs
Plain text
Barcode or product identifiers
Contact details
Phone numbers
Email addresses
SMS information
Wi-Fi network information
Calendar information
Location coordinates
Other supported data contained within a code
The App primarily processes this information locally for the feature you choose to use.
2. Camera Scanning
When you use the real-time scanner, the App accesses your device camera to detect and decode supported QR codes and barcodes.
Camera images are analyzed only as needed for scanning. The App does not intentionally store camera frames after they are no longer required for recognition.
Camera permission is only required when you choose to use camera-based scanning.
3. Scanning From Images
The App may allow you to select an existing image from your device to detect a QR code or barcode contained in that image.
Where supported by Android, the App may use the system image picker so that you can select a specific image without granting unrestricted access to your entire photo library.
The selected image is processed on your device for code recognition and is not intentionally uploaded to servers operated by us.
4. QR Code Creation
QR Scan: Read Any Code may allow you to create QR codes using information that you provide.
Depending on the type of QR code, this information may include:
Text
Website links
Wi-Fi information
Contact details
Email content
SMS content
Calendar details
Location information
Supported social or online links
The information you provide for QR code creation is processed locally for the purpose of generating the requested code.
5. Scan History and App Preferences
The App may keep a local history of recent scanning or QR-code creation activities.
Locally stored history may include:
Scanned QR code or barcode content
Generated QR code information
Code format or category
Date and time of activity
Recent scan or creation records
The App may also save settings such as:
Sound preferences
Vibration preferences
Clipboard options
History settings
Language settings
Interface preferences
These records and settings are stored locally within the App.
You may delete individual history records or clear available history through the App's controls.
6. Clipboard and Sharing
When you select a copy function, the App may place QR-code or barcode content onto the Android system clipboard.
If an automatic-copy feature is available and you enable it, recognized content may be copied to the clipboard after a successful scan.
The App does not intentionally inspect unrelated clipboard content.
When you choose to share information, the App may open Android's system sharing interface and allow you to select another application or service.
Once information is shared with another app or service, the receiving third party's own privacy practices apply.
7. Permissions and Device Functions
QR Scan: Read Any Code may use Android permissions or device functions only when required for features you choose to use.
Camera
Camera access is used for live QR code and barcode scanning.
Photos and Images
The App may use Android's system image picker when you select an image for code recognition.
Flashlight
The camera flashlight may be used during scanning in low-light environments. This feature is controlled by you.
Vibration and Sound
Optional vibration or sound feedback may be used to confirm successful code recognition.
Internet Access
Internet connectivity may be used when you choose to open an online destination contained in a scanned QR code or barcode, such as a website.
The core code-scanning and QR-generation features do not require us to upload your scanned code content to our servers.
You can review or revoke Android permissions through your device settings. Disabling a permission may prevent the related feature from working.
8. On-Device Processing
Most essential functions of QR Scan: Read Any Code are designed to operate directly on your Android device.
These functions may include:
QR code scanning
Barcode recognition
Recognition from selected images
QR code generation
Scan history
Local preference storage
For these functions, we do not intentionally send scanned QR-code content, barcode data, generated QR information, selected images, camera frames, or local history records to servers operated by us.
9. Advertising, Analytics, and Accounts
QR Scan: Read Any Code does not require users to create a cloud account or sign in to use its main features.
If the current version of the App does not include advertising, behavioral analytics, cloud accounts, or third-party crash reporting, those services are not used to process scanning content.
If future versions introduce advertising, analytics, crash reporting, account services, cloud synchronization, or similar third-party technologies, this Privacy Policy and any required Google Play disclosures may be updated accordingly.
We do not sell personal information processed through the App.
10. Third-Party Content and Services
QR codes and barcodes may direct you to external websites, applications, maps, stores, communication services, or other third-party destinations.
We do not control these external services.
If you choose to open a link, launch another application, place a call, send a message, or interact with another service, that service may process information according to its own privacy policy and terms.
You should review unfamiliar QR-code destinations carefully before providing passwords, financial information, login credentials, or other sensitive data.
11. Data Retention and Deletion
Information managed directly by QR Scan: Read Any Code is primarily stored on your device.
Depending on the features available, you may remove locally stored information by:
Deleting individual history records
Clearing scan or creation history
Resetting App preferences
Clearing the App's data through Android settings
Uninstalling the App
Clearing App data or uninstalling the App will generally remove information stored within the App's private local storage.
Information that you previously copied, saved, exported, shared, or submitted to another service may remain outside the App and is controlled by the destination where it was sent.
12. Security
We aim to minimize unnecessary collection and transmission of user information.
By performing QR scanning, barcode recognition, QR generation, and history functions primarily on-device, the App reduces the need to transfer code content over the internet.
However, no software, device, or storage method can guarantee complete security against every possible risk.
13. Children's Privacy
QR Scan: Read Any Code is not specifically designed for children.
The App does not require users to register accounts or directly submit personal information to us in order to use its primary scanning and QR-generation functions.
We do not knowingly collect children's personal information through servers operated by us as part of the App's normal core functionality.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy if the App's features, permissions, third-party services, or data-handling practices change.
When material changes are made, the Effective Date shown at the top of this policy will be updated.
We recommend reviewing this Privacy Policy periodically, particularly after installing an updated version of the App.
