YOUR PRIVACY, OUR PRIORITY QR Code ScanX is committed to protecting your privacy. This app allows you to scan and generate QR codes securely. We prioritize on-device processing and data minimization.
1. Information We Collect QR Code ScanX is designed to minimize data collection:
Personal Information: We do not collect names, emails, phone numbers, or contact lists.
Scan Data: All QR code data and scan history remain stored locally on your device. We do not upload your scans to any cloud server.
Diagnostics: We use Google AdMob and Firebase, which may collect anonymous crash reports and performance data to help us fix bugs.
2. Permissions Explained We request only the permissions necessary for the app to function:
Camera Permission
Why: To scan QR codes and barcodes in real-time.
What we do: The camera is active only during the scanning process.
What we don’t do: We never record, save, or upload photos/videos to any server.
Gallery Access (System Photo Picker)
Why: To scan QR codes from images saved on your device.
How it works: On modern Android versions (Android 10+), we use the secure System Photo Picker. You select a specific image, and the system shares only that image with our app for scanning.
Privacy: We do not have access to your entire gallery or other photos.
Storage Permission (Legacy Devices Only)
Why: Required only on devices running Android 9 or below to access the gallery for scanning or saving generated QR codes.
Note: On Android 10 and above, this permission is not requested.
3. Data Storage
Scan history is saved locally on your device database.
Generated QR code images are saved to your device's storage.
You have full control to delete history or uninstall the app to remove all local data.
4. Third-Party Services (Advertising) We use Google AdMob to display ads to support the app. AdMob may automatically collect:
Advertising ID (AAID)
Device information (device type, OS version)
Approximate location (based on IP address)
Ad interaction data
Important:
Your scanned QR code content (e.g., passwords, private links) is never shared with AdMob.
You can opt-out of personalized ads via your device settings: Settings → Google → Ads.
For users in the EEA/UK, a GDPR consent screen is provided.
5. Data Security
We rely on Android's sandboxing features to keep your data secure.
No login or account creation is required to use the app.
The app's core features function fully offline.
6. Children’s Privacy This app is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Your Rights
Revoke Permissions: You can revoke camera or storage permissions at any time via device settings.
