QR Scanner — Privacy Policy

This application ("QR Scanner") is designed with privacy as a default. This page explains what the app does and does not do on your device.

1. Data we collect

We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personally identifiable information.

We do not use analytics, advertising SDKs, crash trackers, or any third-party tracker.

2. Camera

The camera permission is used only while the scanner screen is open.

Camera frames are analysed on your device by Google ML Kit's on-device barcode model.

Frames are not stored, uploaded, or shared with anyone — not even with us.

3. Photos

When you pick an image, it is decoded on your device and then discarded.

We access only the single image you choose via the system photo picker.

4. Scan history

Decoded text is saved to a local database on your device so you can revisit past scans.

History never leaves your device and you can clear it at any time from the History tab.

Uninstalling the app deletes the database.

5. Google Play Services / ML Kit

The on-device barcode model is downloaded once from Google Play Services. No scan content is sent in that request.

If you decline the camera permission, we offer the Google Code Scanner as a fallback. Its UI is hosted by Google Play Services (not this app) and scan results are returned on-device only.

6. Permissions summary

CAMERA — to detect codes via the live preview.

No storage permission is requested: "Scan from image" uses the Android Photo Picker, which only grants the app access to the single image you explicitly select.

7. Children

The app is general-audience and does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13.

8. Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the "Last updated" date above and ship a new app version.
