1. Who We Are
QR Code Scanner (the “App”) is provided by Shama E Hayaat Limiteed (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use our QR code and barcode tools, Android home screen launcher, and related services.
Privacy contact: williamandaya@gmail.com.
2. Information Used for Scanning and QR Code Creation
Camera: With your permission, the App accesses the camera while you use the scanner to recognize QR codes and barcodes. The camera flash may be used to illuminate a code. Camera frames are processed on your device; we do not upload these frames to our servers or use them for advertising.
Selected images: When you choose an image for scanning, the App reads that image to find supported codes. It does not automatically scan your photo library. Image decoding takes place on your device.
Code content: Scanned codes and information you enter to generate a QR code may contain URLs, text, contact details, Wi-Fi credentials, or other personal information. We use this content to provide the operation you request. We do not transmit scan contents, selected images, or QR creation inputs to advertising or analytics providers.
History: Scan results and generated-code records saved by the App are stored locally until you delete them or clear the App’s storage. Avoid saving codes containing passwords or other sensitive information on a shared device.
The App does not upload scan content to an AI service.
3. Launcher Features and Installed Applications
The App provides an Android home screen and app drawer with access to installed apps and scanning tools. To display, search, organize, and launch apps, it accesses installed-app information, including app names, package names, icons, and launch activities.
This information is processed locally for launcher functionality. We do not upload your installed-app inventory, sell it, share it with advertising partners, or use it for advertising, profiling, or attribution.
Where declared in the App and permitted by Google Play, QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES supports the launcher’s discovery of installed apps. This permission does not grant access to the private content of other apps.
Launcher settings, home screen arrangement, and preferences are stored locally.
The App becomes your default Home app only after you select it through Android’s system controls. This changes your home screen experience. You can choose another launcher in Android Settings, usually under Apps > Default apps > Home app. Menu names vary by device.
4. Device Permissions and System Access
The App requests access appropriate to the features you use:
• Camera (CAMERA): To scan codes using the camera and operate the camera flash during scanning.
• Photos or media access: To read images you choose for scanning or save generated codes. Where supported, we use Android’s system photo picker rather than broad photo-library access. Older Android versions may require storage permission for these operations.
• Installed-app visibility: To populate the launcher’s app drawer, search installed apps, and open apps.
• Internet and network state: To load advertisements, communicate with service providers, and perform online actions you request.
Permission availability depends on your Android version. You may manage permissions in Android Settings. Denying access may prevent the related feature from working.
Recognizing a code containing contact details, a phone number, or a location does not itself require access to your address book, call history, SMS messages, or device location. A separate app may request its own permissions when you choose to complete an action there.
5. Advertising, Analytics, and Diagnostics
The App contains advertisements and uses Google AdMob, Google Analytics for Firebase, and Firebase Crashlytics.
These services may process device model, operating system and app versions, language, IP address, approximate location inferred from IP address, advertising or app-instance identifiers, app interactions, ad impressions and clicks, crash reports, and diagnostic information, as applicable to each service and its configuration.
This information supports ad delivery and measurement, product analytics, troubleshooting, security, and fraud prevention. Advertising personalization is subject to your choices, applicable law, and the consent obtained where required. Non-personalized ads may still involve data processing.
We do not include code contents, Wi-Fi passwords, selected images, or installed-app inventories in analytics events, advertising requests, or crash-report attachments.
Provider information:
• Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
• Google’s use of information from apps: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
• Firebase privacy and security: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
You can manage available advertising controls through Android’s privacy or advertising settings and any privacy-choice controls provided in the App.
6. Support Communications
If you email us, we receive your email address and the information and attachments you provide. We use these to respond, investigate issues, and maintain relevant support records. Please avoid sending passwords, payment information, or sensitive scan contents.
7. Purposes and Legal Bases
We process information to provide scanning and launcher features, carry out actions you request, maintain and improve the App, display and measure advertisements, respond to support requests, protect against misuse, and comply with law.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on providing the requested service, legitimate interests such as security and service improvement where those interests do not override your rights, compliance with legal obligations, or consent where required. Granting an Android permission does not replace separate consent required for advertising or other processing. You may withdraw consent without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.
8. Sharing and External Actions
We disclose information to the service providers identified above as needed for their described functions. We may also disclose information when legally required, to protect rights and security, or in connection with a business transfer subject to applicable safeguards and notices.
When you choose to open a scanned link, search a product barcode online, share a result, or send content to another app, the selected information is passed to that destination. Websites and other apps may collect information under their own policies. Review the destination and content before proceeding.
We do not sell personal and sensitive user data. Camera images, scan contents, and installed-app inventories are not provided to advertising partners.
9. Storage, Retention, and Deletion
Locally stored scan history, launcher preferences, and other App data remain on your device until deleted through available App controls, by clearing the App’s storage in Android Settings, or by uninstalling the App, subject to Android’s backup and restore behavior. Clearing cache alone may not delete history. Images you export or share may remain outside the App and must be deleted separately.
Support records are retained while needed to resolve your request and for necessary follow-up, security, or legal obligations, then deleted or anonymized.
Advertising, analytics, and diagnostic data are retained according to the applicable provider’s disclosed policies and our configured retention settings, for the purposes described above. Retention can vary by service and data type. Contact us for information about applicable retention or to request deletion of information within our control.
Deleting local App data does not automatically delete data already processed by providers or received by another app. We will assist with applicable deletion requests and explain any legal retention requirements. We may need limited information to verify a request; do not send sensitive scan contents for verification.
10. Security and International Processing
We use appropriate technical and organizational safeguards, including encrypted network connections for information transmitted by the App and access controls for information under our control. No storage or transmission method is completely secure.
Our service providers may process information outside your country. Where required, international transfers are subject to safeguards recognized by applicable data protection law.
11. Your Choices and Rights
You can revoke permissions, change your default Home app, delete local records, adjust available advertising choices, and stop using the App.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, and complain to a data protection authority. Contact williamandaya@gmail.com to submit a request. We respond within the time required by applicable law. We cannot retrieve data that exists only on your device.
12. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 or below the minimum age required by local law. We do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
13. Policy Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy when our features, providers, or data practices change. The revised date will appear above. We provide additional notice and obtain consent when required by law.
