Last Updated: September 23, 2026
QR & Barcode Toolkit ("the App") is developed, owned, and operated by Somnath Dey Chowdhury ("Developer", "we", "us", or "our").
We take your privacy seriously and are dedicated to transparent data practices. This Privacy Policy outlines how the App accesses, processes, retains, and secures information when you use our services on Android devices.
By installing or using QR & Barcode Toolkit, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
The App requires runtime permission to access your device's camera solely to facilitate optical scanning functionality.
Purpose: Scanning QR codes, standard 1D/2D barcodes (e.g., EAN-13, Code 128, UPC, PDF417), and decoding encoded text or payloads.
On-Device Processing: Camera frames are analyzed locally in real time on your device using on-device optical libraries. No camera streams, video recordings, or photographic frames are ever uploaded, transmitted, or stored on external servers owned by the Developer.
Permission Control: Camera access is strictly opt-in. You can reject or revoke camera permission at any time via Android system settings; however, real-time camera scanning will be disabled.
The App provides an optional feature allowing you to scan QR codes and barcodes from existing photos or images on your device.
Scoped Access: We utilize Android's photo picker or explicit user selection mechanisms. The App only accesses the individual image file you deliberately select.
Local Decoding: Selected images are analyzed strictly within device memory to decode codes. They are never transmitted to our servers or used for background monitoring or tracking.
When a code is decoded, the raw data (such as plain text, URLs, contact vCards, Wi-Fi credentials, or product codes) is processed locally on the device to present the result.
Product Lookups & Online Search: If you choose to search a scanned barcode online or query product databases via third-party web services/browsers, the query string or URL is processed by the respective search engine or website according to their own terms.
No Sale of Data: The Developer does not harvest, monetize, catalog, or sell the contents of codes scanned by users.
To allow you to revisit scanned and generated codes, the App stores records in a local Room database on your device.
Stored Attributes: Encoded content, code format (e.g., QR_CODE, EAN_13), timestamp, and user tags/favorites.
Data Confinement: Scan history remains sandboxed within your device storage and is never synced to a remote cloud database managed by the Developer.
User Control: You can individually delete records or purge your entire scan history at any time from the History screen. Clearing app data or uninstalling the App permanently removes all local records.
The App enables you to input custom text, URLs, contacts, or phone numbers to generate custom barcodes and QR codes.
Local Computation: Generation occurs entirely on-device.
Exporting & Sharing: When you choose to export, save, or share a generated image, the handoff is managed securely through standard Android share intents and system storage dialogs.
To keep the App free, QR & Barcode Toolkit displays advertisements through Google AdMob (a service provided by Google LLC).
Google AdMob may collect and process device identifiers, IP addresses, network details, and interaction logs to serve banner, interstitial, and rewarded ads in compliance with Google Play Developer Policies and applicable privacy regulations (such as GDPR and CCPA).
Purposes: Ad delivery, fraud prevention, frequency capping, ad performance reporting, and personalization (where consented).
Ad Identifiers: AdMob may access the Google Advertising ID (GAID) in accordance with Android operating system permissions and your tracking preferences.
Privacy Information: To learn how Google uses data from apps using their services, visit:
The App integrates vetted system and developer libraries to perform essential technical functions:
Google Mobile Ads SDK: For loading and displaying advertisements.
AndroidX & CameraX Libraries: For high-performance, stable camera feed access and lifecycle management.
ZXing ("Zebra Crossing"): For on-device barcode and QR matrix decoding.
These components process data solely to execute their programmed utilities under modern Android runtime security sandboxes.
Except for anonymized metrics and advertising signals collected by third-party partner SDKs (Google AdMob), the Developer does not collect, store, or transmit:
Personal identifiers (names, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses).
Precise GPS or fine-grained device location.
Device contact lists, calendar events, or biometric data.
Password credentials or financial account information.
Copies of personal gallery photos or raw camera recordings.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. Data is only processed or disclosed under the following circumstances:
Third-Party Providers: Google AdMob receives ad-request signals as described in Section 6.
Legal Compliance: In rare circumstances where disclosure is required by law, court order, or official governmental request.
No Cloud Accounts: Because the App requires no login or account creation, the Developer maintains no remote user databases to delete.
Complete User Deletion: You can delete all local data instantly by selecting "Clear Data" / "Clear Storage" under Settings > Apps > QR & Barcode Toolkit on your device, or simply by uninstalling the application.
We apply industry-standard best practices to safeguard user interactions:
All local data is isolated within the App's private application sandbox, inaccessible to other standard apps without elevated root privileges.
External web intents (such as opening links or web queries) are delegated directly to your device's default secure web browser using encrypted HTTPS protocols where applicable.
QR & Barcode Toolkit is a general-purpose utility tool and does not knowingly solicit or collect personal identifiable information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in applicable jurisdictions). If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please reach out via our contact email so we can take immediate corrective measures.
Depending on your geographical region (e.g., EEA, UK, California), you have specific statutory privacy rights:
Opting Out of Personalized Ads: You can reset or delete your Advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads at any time via your device settings (Settings > Google > Ads).
Permission Revocation: You can grant, deny, or revoke camera permissions at any point through your system application settings.
We may revise this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect updates in app functionality, third-party libraries, legal requirements, or Google Play Developer policies. Any updates will be published with an updated Last Updated date at the top of this document. Continued use of the App following changes signifies acceptance of the revised policy.
