Welcome to ScanWise: QR & Barcode Scanner.
ScanWise is developed by Qd App Developer and provides secure, fast, and privacy-focused QR scanning and PDF creation tools.
Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use our application.
1. Our Privacy Commitment
We do not collect, sell, rent, or store personal information for our own purposes.
For clarity, “personal information” refers to data that directly identifies an individual, such as name, email address, phone number, or physical address.
All QR scanning, QR generation, and PDF creation processes occur locally on your device. We do not operate servers that store your scanned data, generated QR codes, typed text, or created PDF documents.
However, the app integrates trusted third-party services (such as Google AdMob and Firebase) that may automatically collect certain device and usage information for advertising, analytics, and app improvement purposes. These services operate under their own privacy policies.
2. How the App Works (Local Processing)
The following features are processed entirely on your device:
QR code scanning
Barcode scanning
QR code generation
Image to PDF conversion
Scan to PDF (camera document scanning)
Text to PDF conversion
We do not upload, transmit, or store scanned results, generated QR codes, typed content, or PDF files on any external servers.
3. Permissions We Use (And Why)
To provide full functionality, the app requests the following permissions:
📷 Camera
Purpose: Required for QR/barcode scanning and document scanning for PDF creation.
Usage:
The camera is activated only when you choose to scan QR codes or documents.
The app does not record video, store footage, or upload camera data.
All processing happens locally on your device.
🖼️ Media Access (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE)
Purpose: Allows you to select images from your gallery for QR scanning or Image-to-PDF conversion.
Usage:
On Android 13+ (API 33+), we use READ_MEDIA_IMAGES.
On Android 12 and below, we use READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE where required.
All image processing occurs locally. No images are uploaded or shared.
💾 Storage (MediaStore API)
Purpose: Allows saving generated QR codes and PDF files to your device.
Usage:
Files are saved locally using Android’s MediaStore system or storage permissions where required.
We do not access, modify, or upload these files after they are saved.
🌐 Internet & Network State
Purpose:
To display advertisements (Google AdMob)
To support Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics
When you choose to open a scanned website link
The app works offline for scanning and PDF creation features.
4. QR Code Generation & Text to PDF Data
When you create QR codes or convert text into PDF files:
The content is processed locally on your device
It is not transmitted to our servers
It is not stored externally
It is not shared with third parties
Any saved QR codes or PDF files remain entirely under your control on your device.
5. Third-Party Services
ScanWise integrates the following third-party services:
Google AdMob
Used to display advertisements within the app.
AdMob may collect:
Device identifiers
IP address
App interaction data
Advertising ID
This data is used for advertising delivery and performance measurement.

Scan history, QR codes, and generated PDF files remain stored locally on your device.

Third-party services (AdMob and Firebase) may retain anonymized data according to their own retention policies.
7. Children’s Privacy
ScanWise is not directed toward children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If you believe that a child has provided data through third-party services, please contact us.
8. Security
We implement reasonable technical safeguards within the app’s scope.
However, no digital system can guarantee absolute security.
9. External Links
Scanned QR codes may contain links to third-party websites.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external sites. Please review their policies before engaging with them.
10. Your Privacy Rights
Since we do not directly collect personal information, there is no user data stored by us to access or delete.
If you wish to manage data collected by third-party services (AdMob or Firebase), please refer to their respective privacy policies.
Users in the European Economic Area (EEA) and the United Kingdom may manage or withdraw their consent for personalized advertising at any time through the in-app “Privacy Options” settings.
We comply with applicable GDPR consent requirements.
