WHAT IS AN ENGAGED ENCOUNTER
The Engaged Encounter is a program for couples who are preparing for marriage. It is a time set aside for discovery, first of themselves and then of their partner. This is an introduction to a lasting and continuous process.
Engaged couple come to the weekend with different motives. Some are eager, excited and open to the weekend. Others have been obligated or persuaded to come and may feel hesitant. On this weekend, the couples are planning their marriage. The wedding is only a day; their marriage is the rest of their lives. Each person gives the weekend to his or her partner as a gift of themselves. Our marriage is successful as long as we are willing to work at it. Our relationship has always been greatly enriched by our encounter experiences.
The aim of this program is threefold:
to help couples refocus and consider, maybe in a little deeper way than till now, the issues and questions that are at the core of a marriage relationship;
to confirm and give them confidence in their relationship by treating and sharing the areas they themselves have already covered. This will let them know that they are "on the right track”;
to give them confidence that no matter what problems they will be faced with, if they choose to work at it, their relationship will keep growing. For this, the sharing by the Team Couples of their own struggles will be helpful.
