Welcome to our Welfare Hub! As a society, we spend our time learning about and teaching first aid. We recognise it can be difficult to balance studying, volunteering and maintaining a sense of wellbeing. This hub offers activities, places to visit, recipes, and resources for you to use to relax and support your wellbeing whilst studying and volunteering.
'How to be Happy'
On the 9th of March, the Student Union is running a talk by psychologist Dr Glenn Wilson titled 'How to be Happy'. Focusing on the pursuit of human happiness, Dr Wilson discusses routes to wellbeing including "positive thinking, a sense of proportion, humour, meaning and self-worth, outdoor activity, community and intimate relationships". "Fallen into the trap of making a study routine and not actually doing it? Or have you given up completely on the idea of one? All hope is not lost!"- Check out this webinar on the 8th of March hosted by the Student Union for advice and tips on how to create a realistic, balanced and effective study routine!
Uni Mental Health Day
University Mental Health Day, the 3rd of March 2022, is the biggest day of the year for student mental health, bringing together the university community to make mental health a university-wide priority. Adult Colouring Pages
If you're looking for a way to relax and focus your mind for a while, why not try colouring! Colouring has many benefits including improving focus, reducing anxiety and encouraging mindfulness. It's important that if you're struggling or need advice on anything, that you find the right resource for you. This page includes information on how to access all of Queen Mary's Advice and Counselling Services. You can get free and confidential help with financial, welfare, legal, emotional and psychological issues.

If you're looking for some new food inspiration or an excuse to try cooking some more balanced meals, BBC Good Food have a great student recipe page filled with lots of easy, cheap and filling dishes that are packed with flavour!
Why Practice Emotional First Aid?

Mental health is just as important as physical health. This TED Talk makes a compelling case for practising 'emotional first aid'. TED have also put together a great playlist covering similar topics!
QMSU Societies
Getting involved in societies can be a great way to look after your wellbeing! Meeting new people and focusing on something you enjoy can help you relax and take your mind off things that may be causing you stress. Queen Mary have over 300 clubs and societies you can join, head over to their page to and have a look!

The Student Union always has plenty of fun and interesting events running. If you're feeling crafty or want to try something you've never done before check out this Art Therapy Workshop running on the 22nd of February! Getting creative can be a great way to take your mind off things, have some fun and meet new people!
