Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur

Welcome to
Quantum Material and Devices Lab

Investigating low-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) and hBN, moiré superlattices, and exciton trapping for next-generation quantum technologies.

News & Announcements

  • Project Assistant, Post-doc positions available, Candidates with expertise or interest in optics (experiment) are encouraged to apply

Core Research Pillars

Quantum Emitters

Recombination of excitons trapped in defect potentials of 2D TMDCs (like MoS₂, WSe₂) gives rise to deterministic single photon emission for quantum information processing.

Moiré Physics

With small-angle twisting, flat bands amplify electron correlations. Periodic moiré potentials trap interlayer excitons across high-symmetry atomic registries.

Valleytronics

Harnessing the helicity of circularly polarized light to initialize and read out valley pseudospins in monolayer semiconductors protected by time-reversal symmetry.

Dr. Sudipta Dubey

Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, IIT Kanpur

Research Focus: Physics of atomically thin materials, Valleytronics, Twistronics, and quantum optical phenomena in engineered 2D van der Waals heterostructures.
